Is there any way to have an injury continue on through the career of a player?

Like if a guy is out with a torn rotator cuff, it should effect him after he rejoins the team for the rest of his career. I wonder if sometimes we don't get realistic portrayals because after the stint on the DL for 132 days, the player comes back the next season without being affected by the massive injury such as "Tommy John Surgery."

If I am wrong on this, please correct me, but just curious.

The game actually already does this. With some major injuries ratings are affected. Also, you will see some cases where a player will have am injury recur somewhat frequently.
