Whats the best editor settings ?

Post by kirk23_MatrixForum »

I have been trying for days, to come up with a solution that works, to allow for maximum surface combat action,I have given every ship in the database surface radar,as I'm not interested in any history,I want maximum surface action?[;)]

Problem is either the AI does not know that all the ships have radar, and so in therory should be able to see each other, but I still get stupid 1 & 2,000 yds night time action, when the radar should locate ships at 20,000 yds plus ?[&:]

Or the task forces just evade action. On one occasion at least I have had a large Japanese surface force, including Heavy & light cruiser's come up against a single allied damaged destroyer, which had serious engine problems, and was trailing smoke from a previous battle, and yet it managed to out run and evade undamaged Japanese ships, capable of doing 30 knots plus,I would have thought that would be virtually impossible to happen.[:-]

So whats the magical formula that work's please getting desperate, far to much air combat in the game and not enough SURFACE ACTION for me.[8D]

By the way I have just been watching the game play against itself AI V AI.[:'(]

Graham.

You sir,
need to head over to Storm Eagle studios and purchase a copy of Jutland. Brutally accurate tactical surface combat. Most highly recomeded. Better yet, download the demo. The full game, just time limited, but free. It is where I passed the months waiting for this game.

Yes I know I have war plan Orange,I don't mind the air warfare as such,I would just love to see more surface action,or do I need to transfer all my favourite world war 2 ship's over to WAR PLAN ORANGE, I hope not not nearly as good a game.[:)]

You need to be able to ensure full moon and no cloud cover to increase night detection and visual ranges - but as that's in the code it's not editable. For daytime you need to remove all weather effects, setting 'advanced weather - OFF' from the game settings screens might help.
Oh and don't install the 1st patch (set new radar limitations early war). Actually you would be better off with WITP as it doesn't have the greater ability for mutual disengagement.

WITP and AE are not really suited to the kind of game you're wanting to play.
