30 days in - My favorite thing about AE!

Post by MadmanRick »

Ok, after giving it alot of thought, I have to say that my absolute favorite thing about AE as it compares to WitP is.......

The ability to name Task Forces. This one simple(?) thing makes it SO much easier to remember where I was sending or wanted to send a TF. In WitP, I would frequently get sidetracked between forming a TF and it being ready to get on its' way (loading supplies, troops etc.). Now I just add the location name of where I was planning that TF to end up (say Rabaul for example)just after I form it and no matter where or how many places I need to route it to before it arrives at Rabaul, I am always aware of where its eventual destination truly is. Thanks a ton guys!

It's hard for me to list a favorite. However, one small change that I really appreciate is that when you click at the top of a column on a summary screen the items are now listed in alphbetical order (in the old WITP, the first click would always list items in reverse alphabetical order).

Considering my last names starts with a W and I spent many years in grade school going to the back of the line I was rather partial to that feature in WITP. Oh well.

Number one favorite: The immediate help I can get in this forum when I am stuck! [&o]

Oh, but you meant number one favorite in the game itself... waypoints.

Tough question..... The 40 mile hex's are a huge improvement over the 60 mile hex's so I'll have to state that as number 1 with number 1A being the ship  repair options.

Geez, where do you start? New map scale. More detailed map. Stacking limits. Fort limits. Much, much more detailed naval OOB. Much more detailed naval upgrades. Naval conversions. Much more detailed aircraft OOB. Plane withdraws. Being able to convert to a new plane model without needing enough planes to fill the squadron . . .

I could go on all day. I could neven pick just one, they are all great improvements.

All the cool late war toys
Finally, all types of Hellcat (my fav. plane)
Can easily set TF's to meet then merge/follow/etc

There are so many improvements and the game is so good that I would have to say my favorite thing about AE is that it is on my hard drive!

The enhanced TF routing options - waypoints, patrol zones, merging TFs.

Wonderful stuff!

With me it’s the overall feel of AE; with all the improvements it now feels very realistic, but with the unpredictability and chaos of warfare.

Agreed about waypoints.Waypoints add a whole new spectrum of what you can do in the game.So for me 40nm hex scale first place with waypoints comign in close second.

The AI. I didn't play WitP that much and the AI usually beat me anyway, but its still easily apparent we have a different beast altogether here.

I mean the new screen where you assign patrol arcs. You now have more options (like the ability to fly LRCAP and regular CAP and set percentages for each, for example, you couldn't do that in vanilla unless you had 2 fighter groups at the base)
