PBEM game save failed to load

Hello

Just starting my first PBEM as Allied; my Japanese opponent has sent me the save file which I've saved to the SAVES folder. HOwever, when I open it in AE, I get an error message saying file failed to load.

I've played several PBEMs in WITP so I have an idea of what to do (but by no means an expert). Any thoughts?

The only thing I can think of is that he sent the file zipped and you did not unzip it? Maybe ask your opponent if he can load the file that he sent you to see if it was already corrupted when it was sent.

Thanks Oleg for the response - much more simple (and rather embarrassing, schoolboy error). Miscommunication between me and my oppo about which patch version we were running! Blimey! sorted now, and thanks again

Reminds me of a situation I had while playing Close Combat: The Longest Day. I asked my opponent if he had the latest patch, he said yes, but it turned out that he only THOUGHT he had the latest patch. [:@]
