Uncommon Valor v.1.30 online!

Post by Marc von Martial »

The official Uncommon Valor 1.30 Patch is now online! You can grab it using our True Update feature or directly from the downloads seection.
Please note that all future support questions and responses will depend on you having this patch installed properly first.

1. In your Uncommon Valor program folder, find the icon labeled "True Update". Left click on it.

2. Click on next to check for a new patch. It will find the patch, although it will not report a size. Don't worry, go ahead and download the patch.

3. When the download is finished, the patch will open an installer in its own windows. If you installed UV in the default directory, you can just keep clicking next until everything is updated. Otherwise, point it to the directory you installed UV in, then let it install the patch.

4. Close things up when you're done. If you installed the patch correctly, running True Update again will tell you that there are no newer versions of UV available than the one you now have.

5. Run UV 1.30 and enjoy!

A full list of the patch changes can be found in a new UV Changes in v1.30 PDF file in your UV program folder post-patch. This can also be found in your main UV directory. For your convenience, the list is reproduced in full below.

Changes in UV version 1.30

1) Repair rates for level bombers has been improved so that 4 engine bombers will not repair 50% of the time instead of the 83% in 1.20.

2) Weather has been toned down. At all weather levels, the chance of a hex being socked in has been reduced by around 10-20%.

3) Ground casualties caused by airstrikes should be greatly reduced (between 50-75%), while disruption should be increased somewhat.

4) Units assigned LR-CAP in the same hex are now taking fatigue as they should (they were not taking any fatigue).

5) The likelihood of aircraft being engaged and shot down by LR-CAP during a transport mission has been decreased.

6) In some cases carrier air units were not bombing assigned ground targets (and the range to the assigned ground target was misreported). This has been fixed.

7) The computer would sometimes take control of human player ships that were disbanded in ports that had been captured from the AI player. This has been fixed.

8) The build percent values shown on the base screen were off by a factor of 10 for facilities being built at SPS 0 bases. The percentage value should now be correct.

9) TF’s consisting entirely of PT boats were not engaging at close range. This has been corrected so they now will engage at very close range at night.

10) Friendly AA units would always fire at full effect at friendly planes bombing enemy units in the same hex. This has been fixed so there is no friendly AA fire.

11) Art graphics corrections and improved combat screens.

12) Updated belt armor of Furutaka class heavy cruiser from 25 to 75.

13) Updated belt armor of Australia class heavy cruiser from 50 to 115.

14) Removed ships from unused Japanese task force TF 4 in scenarios 7 and 14.

15) Corrected Nagato class battleship fuel level from 8650 to 5650.

16) Corrected Kongo class battleship secondary gun devices 3 and 4 from 6.1in/60 3YT Gun to 6in/50 41YT Gun.

17) Corrected Kongo class gun devices 7 and 8 from 1 gun per turret to 2 guns per turret.

18) Added four 13.2mm Type 93 AAMG to Yamato class battleship armament.

19) Corrected Pensacola class cruiser 5”/25 gun armament from 4 to 8.

20) Adjusted Pensacola, Northampton, Portland, and New Orleans class cruiser AA armament.

21) Adjusted Witchita class cruiser 5”/38 armament locations and AA armament.

22) Adjusted Baltimore class cruiser 5”/38 armament locations.

23) Adjusted Brooklyn class cruiser AA armament and changed radar to SC type.

24) Changed Helena class cruiser name to St. Louis, adjusted AA armament and changed radar to SC type.

25) Adjusted Oakland class cruiser AA armament.

Hey - I got v1.3 installed, got the shallow water maps, changed my base icons, put in the new ship graphics from Spooky's site (thanks to Rowlf et al), my PBEM opponents are candy, my prostate is normal size, my diabetes is under control, I only hate my job a little, my children are grown, and my girlfriend has the big kahunas (cute in the face and slim in the waist).

Life is good. But I miss beer.

The USN cruiser changes don't appear to be in the scenarios, just in the class database. As well, some are for individual ships in a class at the start of the campaign (ie. Helena and Boise received SG radar early due to early wartime damage). Either way, the changes don't look to be in the respective scenarios. Don't know if this is just my version as I've a few mods from Rowlf etc. I'll check with Rich. Cheers, Ron.

Not sure about the others, but did notice in SC 17 that the Australia reflected the new Belt Armor 115 vs 50.

Sc. 14 - Pensacola Class 5"25's are still two per side. Trying this scenario again!.. I really wish we could find a way to translate the data updates into saved games - which I realize would probably be an absolute nightmare - but I haven't got past Feb 43 in SC. 14 yet - and now have to begin yet again. But, B17's are repairing and flying better than in 1.2, so it's a wash.

If I buy the CD from Matrix right now, will it have all the patches already on the CD or will I have to download Them?

Use Matrix's True Update

Post by David Heath »

You will have to download them. Our games have an automatic updater and will check then download each and every patch. Then install them.

What do you mean exactly ? BTW, are you sure it is your turn to give orders ... and not your opponent (ie : if you have ended and then saved the game ?

Well I had another failure with True Update today. Actually 3 failures so I did it the old fashioned way, dl'ed the patch, unzipped it and installed it and it worked like a charm.

True Update so far is running about 50% for me. No big deal though. Not even sure it's an annoyance.:)
If something's not working you might want to tunk it a dite.

I know exactly what you mean. I have the game loaded on both my desktop and laptop. I play the game 90% of the time on the desktop and I have started all my PBEM games on that same machine, however when I go on travel I take the laptop. When I down load MY TURN from my E-mail and try to play the game on the laptop the game does not reconize my password. When I get home and run the same turn on the desktop it runs fine. I believe that the password must be a imbeded in the game file on the desktop but I can't find what file to transfer to the laptop. Any help would make travel much more enjoyable THANK YOU

The Yamato's got nothin' to match the armament on THIS little battlewagon. I thought you guys could use a break from update problems to take a look at somethin' that can REALLY download yer patch.
