Old WPAE Game Will Not Load under Beta

Am playing a game with an opponent that we started early on -- like the day WPAE became available for dl. Has been working fine under the Hot Fix patch, but now when I sent him and he played a turn in 1083 version I can't load either his replay or the game turn. Is this something there is a "switch" for? I can go back and reload and use the Hot Fix patch but not the Beta. Help.

Sorry, we've already trashed the files. We have reloaded up to the hot fix and our game is back on track. One question, is there a sequence that swe should have followed, like Jap player makes the switch first or something along those lines? For now we are happy enough to play using the hot-fixed version. I may start ano0ther game with the beta version and see how that goes.

Japanese player needs to apply patch.
Send save to Allied
Allied needs to apply patch before loading save (IIRC, in this patch, the new save has a few bigger tables which wont load under pre-prepatch version)
continue normally.

michaelm has it just right. When we redid it with the Jap player converting first, it seems to have slid into gear nicely. Thanks!

If something like this will need to be done when the first update is released, I would appreciate a small .txt file that covers the gist of what we will need to do to integrate the update into an ongoing game. In advance, and here's hoping, "thanks!"
