The Battle of Wake

Post by hbrsvl »

Hi-Playing AE(vanilla, no Beta)Allies, scen.6.

The Battle lasted from 12/8/41 through the present date, 1/4/42.

Allies still hold Wake, although it's out of supply.

The Battle was a series of actions resulting from Allies decision to put CV TF(s) near Wake at beginning and run supply into Wake. In 2 actions US CAs heavily damaged the 3 CVs.

Results:
1. 2 Japanese landing attemps repulsed.
2. Japanese ship losses:
A.CVs-3.( Kaga, Akagi and Hiryu.)Soryu damaged lightly, retiring
towards Truk.
B.CLs-2.
C.DD-5.
D.PB-1.
E.AK-2.
F.AMC-2.
G. AO-7.
3. Allied ship losses:
A.CA-1.
B.TK-1.
C.AVD-1.
D.AE-1.
E.AG-1.

Saratoga is badly damaged(sys.37,Flt.62,Eng.51)disabled at Wake. Also damaged at Wake are 4DDs. These will probably be lost to LBA from the Marshall's. Air groups massivly depleted.

Enterprise has moderate damage(sys 18,flt.22,Eng.6) and is with Lexington TF retiring to PH.

On the whole, not bad for CentPac. Far East is another(bad)story.
