This sure sounds familiar: I-5 encountered a Transport TF, did not attack, was discovered anyway and pounded by the escorts (2-1 escort-to-transport ratio), and was rattled and shaken multiple times, to include a hull penetration. But where this tale differs is that escorts only had one try at her (not the usual 2 or 3), plus the combat report is showing results that don't jibe with all the near misses seen on the screen.
