few questions:

Post by bigbaba »

hi all,

i have some questions about the GC and hope that someone has the answers:

- how does the militia system works? at which point are they activated in india, australia etc? and how strong are the units?

- which meaning has a specific HQ for a TF or a ship? how does a ship or TF benefits from beeing attached to a HQ?

hope to get some usefull answers.

I'll have a go ..

1) no idea on melitia etc.

2) ships and naval HQ's .. IF a port is in range the port size is increased by the HQ range if the base is the same command as the HQ, if not then its 1/2 HQ range for both effective range and port bonus. The port level dictates what ordinance is available for reloands and bigger ports = bigger ordinance . EG port size 4 witin range of a naval HQ range 2 could resupply CA main guns (8in) wheras a normal port 4 cannot without significant naval support squads (86) .. (manual pages 285-288) . Also affects loading/unloading rates. That said i do not think a naval HQ gives any combat bonuses for TF's in range and at sea and only affects ports.

Hope that helps a bit and i'm not completely wrong [;)]
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

This is just based on what I read earlier about AE...before it was released...so this could be entirely wrong.

For Australian "extra militias", they are triggered when the Japanese player invades anywhere in Australia except the North (in other words, an invasion of Darwin won't trigger the extra Australian militias.).

For Indian "extra militias," they are triggered if the Japanese invade the Diamond Harbor/Dacca/Calcutta area of India. A Japanese invasion of Imphal/Chittagong doesn't trigger them if memory serves me correctly. Basically, if the Japanese "leave the jungle" on India's border and enter the malaria-free plains of India, the extra militias are triggered. I'm unsure what effect an invasion by the Japanese at Colombo has.

OK allied invasion reinforcements are not militia - anything but they are diversions from other theatres.

If you invade Australia SOUTH of a line 1 hex below Brisbane the allies recieve additional forces which appear at Ade/Capetown and Canada - basically the allies responde by deiverting units - in addition a one of injection of devices occur to reflect the mustering of resources from training cadre enough material is released to upgrade a few on map units.

So an initial upgrade of units from extra devices and a few extra units but they need to be shipped to the point of conflict

If you Invade NZ at all same thing a couple of Divs are diverted fromME arriving at Aden so again you need to ship them in and some Devices are taken from reinforcement camps which increases militia unit sterenght

India same drill but the trigger line runs one hex BELOW Delhi so you can invade the Indian Coast and Ceylon without a reaction.

Thanks Andy, to my knowledge this detail in not in the manual. Do any of the divisions have to be withdrawn again? And if so, what is the time line?

When do the Indochina, Russian and West Coast reinforcements trigger?
Are there any additional reinforcements except Indochina, Australia, NZ, India, Russia and the West Coast?

Can anyone point me to the part of the manual thats about "Devices". E.g. what do they do/represent?

I know from another game there is an item called "Device" which has as description "This is a device, it does stuff."

I hope AE is more descriptive ;-)
