The Manual

Post by Tuhhodge »

In my excitement to buy and play AE as soon as it came out - I am sure you can all sympathise - I bought it via the download. I have now realised that I need to read the manual thoroughly to make any headway in the game, but doing so via the pdf file is just a bit too much like hard work. Like many others, I simply hate reading long pieces of script on the computer screen.

Instead of paying a Printer vast sums of money to print out the manual or buying a few dozen ink cartridges and reams of paper for my desktop printer, can I buy the Manual direct from Matrix Games?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I printed mine out at four sheets per page. It's not that hard on the paper or the ink.

I printed my PDF file out as well and assembled it into a 3-ring binder. Just did 20 pages at a time as I wasn't gonna read it all in one night anyway. Make sure to use the 'light' PDF file with the white background so you don't print as much ink. The print is larger than in the manual which my eyes thank me for.

Ahhh...Thanks for the tips chaps. I'll reconsider my willingness to try a self print, but if anyone from Matrix reads this I would be grateful for an idea of the price of the manual as a separate purchase.

Hey, MATRIX, there's money to be made. Do you have too much that you're not bothering?[:'(]

The .pdf and printed manual both have their pluses and minuses. The .pdf is handy for you laptop and any other place you have access to a computer. You can do searches and print out all or just what you need.

However when visiting the Intelligence Shack (head/john/toilet) where the best laid plans of mice and men is often created, nothing beats the printed manual.

maybe not hard on the paper/ink, but your eyes must be suffering (unless you happen to have eagle eyes [:)] )

Sending the light version file to your nearest Kinko's is probably cost effective too...

So is the printed colored version worth it? I'm still on the fence on this game. It scares the heck out me. Kind of like a moth attracted to a flame.

Thank's Aces8, I just placed an order at Staples. I have the Matrix printed copy but the print is too small for my old eyes.

We'd love to oblige, but we can't at present. We're looking into this with the store to see if there's a way we can do this (since we would have to confirm prior ownership to sell the manual separately).

The printed manual was one reason I opted for the download only.  I knew that three hundred pages of black text on a dark (not white) background would not be very readable with my eyesight.  I printed the manual two pages per sheet and do fine.  BTW, the manual looks great and I don't fault the decision to make it like it is.  Just a reality of advancing years.

Hi Eric,

If it's possible I would like to buy the physical manual as well :)
