Control Zones?

Post by Remenents »

I am trying to find out how to set control zones so the computer can control some areas of the map and I can control some, for the US. I feel overwhelmed with all the areas and units I have and just want to take it slow, control maybe ABDA or something to start... I just cant seem to figure out how to do it and I even tried to find it in the manual. Any help please with this?

We were not able to make control zones work with the new improved AI, so they are not in AE (they didn't work all that well in WITP either). What I would recommend is trying one of the smaller scenarios first, then trying one of the "Quiet China" variants in the public beta so that you can at least ignore China.

What I did the first time I tried to play the Grand Campaign is to divide the map into sections or commands. I learn each section, then decide what I want to happen in that section and issue orders accordingly, then move on. After I'd gone over all the sections, I considered if what I had learned meant that I needed to revise my orders to match a "master plan" that may cross section boundaries, if so I adjusted.

As practice, you can also take just the Philippines and/or Malaya and ignore the rest of the map. See if you can get comfortable managing the forces in those areas and fighting those battles for a few weeks of game time, then try restarting and expanding the area you are trying to manage. Everyone has their own method, but the above worked for me.

Thank you... and yes, they didnt really work all the well, but at least I wouldnt have to worry about them too much then lol. I will try a smaller game maybe. This version is just massive! I didnt expect it to be so large when I purchased it, but for the money I paid, I guess it should be. Thank you again. :)
