Watching you struggle against the USN subs has pretty much convinced me that going after Manilla on day 1 is the right strategy to use. Not only do you remove the submarine threat, you also get the KB right in the thick of the action from day 2.

In my pbem we have reached December 21 and I think I have lost the sum total of one xAKL from allied submarines, the sea-lanes between Japan - PI - Indochine - Burma feels very safe. The only allied subs in the region are the dutch and british subs operating around Singapore-Java and the occasional USN sub can be spotted around Manado. This is very comforting for me in the early game since I can escort my interior convoys very lightly with just a PB or E to prevent surface attacks from ye random submarine, and I can use most of my Es, DDs and SCs to actively hunt for submarines in the frontline regions between Saigon - Malaya - Kuching.

What are your thoughts on that Joe?
Then out spake brave Horatius, The Captain of the gate:
"To every man upon this earth death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better Than facing fearful odds,
For the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his Gods."

Resources aboard Honshu, being "literal" ... Honshu only ... we have 2,942K resources.

Joe, it looks like you're shipping in ~51k resources a day to Honshu. That's less than half of what you need to ship in. (You need about 110k.) At that rate, you'll run out of a resource reserve about 50 days from now. If you stop shipping stuff in, you run out in about 26 days.

It would be certainly interesting to know more what is happening in central and south Pacific.
I hope Nik will bring his contribution in this AAR.

When something interesting happens, we might see something appear here. Right now its just crickets and dolphins. [:)]

Burma Front

We tried our first real "sweep" of the war - 23 Oscars over Rangoon - AVG+Beefalos and Blenheim cleaned us up nicely - we lost 4 - they lost none. Guess we don't have to worry about the "sweep bonus" being too strong!!! [:D]

Hong Kong
OMG - HK finally fell. The 38ID will start replanning for "Merek" on the NW tip of West Java.

Central China
We killed one little unit, the AVG+Chinese bombers are trying big bombing raids around Sinyang, but still not doing much. We will shift more strength SE of Sinyang and try to advance through there to Nanyang.

North China
We bashed up a little unit but didn't kill it.

South China
Ditto - we are advancing on Chuhsein.

Try setting the Oscars for the Troposphere Altitude setting...[:D]

On a historical pace I see...Wonder why it took you so long?[:)] My last few starts I take it by the 11th or 13th.

Hmmm --- I enter the hex, Bombard with everyone for a day. Next day I rest the 38ID and Engineers...and on the third day I deliberate attack. All the while the AF at Canton is Ground Attacking.

I had Oscars at 23,000 ... you think they will do better higher? The Allies seem to have been at 14,000. I would think that diferential would be fairly optimal.

Nik wanted me to "hurry" so I think I shocked right after I arrived. Then continuous bombarment followed by shock every 2-3 days until finally done. Only bombed when attacking, bombers didn't seem to accomplish much regardless.

Ackk....don't shock attack the British. Their firepower will take a toll...I prefer the Deliberate Attack first...possibly followed by a Shock the next day if the odds were 1-1 or better...The defender will be disorganized when the Shock hits.

China

In North China we trashed - but did not kill the 7th Army Group HQ, we are sending a small Armor unit to try to finish it off in clear terrain.

Around Sinyang, our artillery park is taking a toll, our reinforcements are moving up. Perhaps we can turn Sinyang into a (Chinese) killing ground, but we need to move fast, before he shows up with a "telephone phone". Oh, also, over Sinyang our Oscars shot down three AVG planes losing one of our own. Boyington, was about, but we only damaged him.

In South China, both sides bombed and repositioned. We are headed for Chushien.

Malaya
We killed a British Battalion on the West Coast with one of our Recon Battalions. In the Center we pushed back two disrupted Brigades with two of our disrupted Regiments. We unleashed our Sallys and bombed all along the front line where as the Brits concentrated their bombers on the center, but our attack worked anyway - this time.

Luzon
Empty Lingayan falls to our forces. Not sure what the American plan is on Luzon, looks like they are scattered out all over - 5 units at Clark 7 units to the East, 5 South of Manilla, not too many in Bataan or Manilla, interesting. We will send one unit over to Iba and await our last reinforcing Regiment before deciding whether or not to go after Clark next.

China

The Chinese seem to be trying to mass more forces at Sinyang, but so are we, I think if we hurry we might be able to bounce them out of the hex. If so, this would set us up to go after Nanyang to the NW.

Malaya

We will try to cover cap our front line this turn to see if we can get lucky and bag a few unescorted bombers. The Nates will cover the West Coast, the Oscars, the East Coast.

Our forces will continue moving South across the entire front.

Production

Had to turn off the Musashi, our Naval Points took a 200 point nose dive that turn, something new must have come on line and started sucking up the naval points. We accelerated the Shoho a few turns back and promised her to Nik by Jan 21st, so we want to keep that promise.

Also had to turn off Betty's for a turn or so. There are 56 in the pool and 72 Nells, so we're not hurting for "Netty's" right now. But i am running low on HA32 engines and want to keep the Sallys comming off the line at full speed, only 14 of them in the pools. There will be over 110 HA32 Factory Capacity soon, so no problem eventually, just for a few turns there will be a pinch.
