German Subs and Merchant Cruisers

Post by Pascal_slith »

Haven't looked, but do German Subs and Merchant Cruisers appear in AE? They did go all the way to Singapore, and certainly raided the Indian Ocean...

(I gather the easy reply is to look at the ship database...)
So much WitP and so little time to play.... :-(

Is this the 259th or 260th time that question has been asked?

Are there germans in AE? Like subs and merchant cruisers. I think even a panzerschiffe made it in to the indian ocean [:'(]

Okay that is definitely 261st time the question was asked

My German's not particularly strong, but how does one translate "Cloud Cuckoo Land" directly? Have you also edited in the entire US Atlantic presence and the CVN from "Final Countdown"?

No ships or planes but I got Herman Goering as commander of all aircraft based in the home islands. He has promised that not one bomb will ever fall on Tokyo......God, I just love that editor.

Hi I can try to email you the new scenario files + art package upgrade,My scenario is completely different from the stock game,I have been busy with the editor,Every device in the data base has been tweaked, all sizes are also in standard inches, instead of combination of imperial & metric,it is a work in progress will be adding all French + Italian + British fleets as well eventually. In my scenario the Aircraft don't get it there own way when attacking ships, all ships have improved AA capability, plus all my ships have increased durability, manouverability so are much harder to hit and sink.[;)]

To provide a bit more info - adding the Germans was looked at, but the decision was it would be too much work - mainly to do with adding AI data and other code for a new "nation". Personally I would have liked to see them included - they operated in the Pacific as well as the Indian ocean (though very rarely...) and it would have been a nice bit of "chrome" to have them in the game.

Maybe it is a feature for Allied Fan Boys

I know I have discovered a use for those 3200 ton transmarine class vessels. I can run them between the east coast and Cape Town and Cristobal without fear of running out of fuel, or being sunk by U Boats in the Atlantic or Caribbean.

And this is a handy discovery, since it isn't hard to run down supply at Capetown between convoys, and those ships aren't much use for more than coastwise trade since they are so slow, and low capacity.

Does he automatically get renamed to "Herman Meier" as soon as the first bombs dropped?

Stupid question but hows about just adding the ship art, for nations that are not in the game as such,to the ship class database in a patch ?[8D]

That way if a player would like to add other ships, then the class and art are already there waiting, and all the player then needs to do is add weapons to the the class plus a few other inputs, don't even need to add any other new Nations by name,Germany just gets added to Japan !!!!![:D]

Rather than add another nation, I would add them to the Japanese but make is explicit in the designations that they are German and perhaps give them a restricted naval HQ to boot.
