Japan vs Russia

Post by PresterJohn001 »

Anyone got some advice / suggestions on how to take out the Russians with an early game strike? (

Looking at the map it seems that by cutting the Trans Siberian rail in a number of places you should be able to divide the Russians
into easily digestble chunks....

The Russians have lots an lots of Air there too, against the AI, just using the Japanese air in the region it seems to be a losing
battle for the Japanese but i'm only a couple of days in...

Anyone got some advice / suggestions on how to take out the Russians with an early game strike? Yeah..., don't try it! You are already at war with the Commonwealth, the United States, and China. Do you really need another front soaking up your resources?

I did some probing and testing and unlike witp where Russia was an easy win in AE you have prep good and push trough Ruskies and push trough hard and maybe even more important push fast. All or nothing.
If you get stalled ur in deep trouble. And if you get cought up in bombardment fight with ruskies in AE ur dead.
At least I was [:)] After I got mauled in bombardment fight i loaded allied side and checked their ART units and ammount of guns they had. Then I gave up and went to patch and restart the game without attacking the ruskies

I am trying to tackle Russia in my pbem. They look to be pretty tough with lots of troops, planes, and artillery.
I am doing an illustrated AAR over in the AAR section. Feel free to drop by and kibitz.

The AAR is: Nomonhan Redux: Seydlitz vs. MBatch729.

This might give you some of the insight that you are looking for, or at least things not to do...

Best advice has already been given, don't do it.

I guess you could wait till mid-42 once you've freed up the SRA conquest forces. But even then I'd only try it in an AI game, a player would royally spank you for triggering the Russians early.

The Manchukuo garrison makes sense in the game, but I doubt that it was necessary IRL.
Russia attacking Japan while Germany nocks at Moscows doors? Come on... [:D]

Maybe after Operation Bagration, but never before, even if the Japs only put puppets on the other side of the border!
