A post patch concern.

Post by afspret »

After I patched I've noticed there is now a delay of sometimes up to a couple of seconds between when I click on some of the buttons in various screens and when the command that button controls happens, like having all the LCUs at a certain base to change op modes. So far it seems to only happen when I'm on a screen that lists all a bases LCU or ACU (and then when individual ACUs are accessed from the list).

I've noticed a delay (depending on how many ships are present) when selecting "Allow Upgrades for All", etc. However, this delay was already present before the patch. I consider it no big deal from a playing standpoint (unless there is some ugliness going on inside, of course).

BTW, overall I find the patch much faster on my PC than the original, hotfix, and beta. The right combination of performance switches really makes a difference. {3.2 GHz Hyper-threaded single CPU (looks like a dual) 3GB memory}

I would also agree that the game is running faster. I used the switches as suggested in the "read me" file for a dual core intel processor. Thanks devs for showing exactly how to enable the switches. I had figured it out for the beta patch, but my DOS days were a while ago [;)]

Have you tried the " -dd_sw " command line switch with the 1.084 patch yet? This one really helps my interface performance.

Try renaming the "sound" folder to "nosound". I had a problem with the original version and had to do that, but something in v1.083 fixed it and it stayed fixed in v1.084.

At first I thought it might have been due to the number of LCUs at a base like Singapore that was causing this, but it also happens at a base with, say, 2-3 LCUs, such as Mersing & a long the west coast of Sumatra. I didn't notice this pre-patch as I didn't try using the set all button from a bases LCU list until after. I was doing it one unit at at time, which was way more time consuming than the couple of seconds delay when doing them all at once, so perhaps it should be better to say this was an observation rather than a concern.
