Returning Chinese LCUs

Post by Chris21wen »

I lost the Lusu War Area HQ sometime ago and I remember seeing a message saying it will return but I did not make a note of when. It hasn't yet and neither is it in the list of ground unit reinforcements which is were i would expect it to be.

Chinese infantry return in 30 days, at 1/3 their TOE. There is no mention in the manual about HQ.

That's what thought so why isn't the Lusu War Area HQ. As I said earlier, I'm sure I got a message saying it would but I didn't make a note just assumed it would be in the list of LCU.

As stated above chinese units should return in 31 days at 1/3rd strength. If this is not happening I would need a save before it is destroyed.

Don't think I've got one on my laptop but I was playing it on a desktop so I might have one there but I doubt it.

I am about to lose the Lusu War Area HQ and when I do, I will let you know what happens in my PBEM. We have not applied the Beta patch. The Chinese infantry I lose do show up on the reinforcement list.

Just to check, the manual only says that Chinese *infantry* spawn. Lusu is an HQ.

(Although the manual also says "most" HQs response, chinese or otherwise. But it's clearly not an infantry and maybe it's not part of "most"?)

6.4 of the manual

Except for most HQ units and some Chinese units (see section 16.4.2), ground units are not replaced when destroyed. Most HQ units do return to the game as a reinforcement if they are destroyed.

That's exactly my point. If you look at the 16.4.2 that is referenced for the Chinese units, it specifically states infantry. (Same point khyberbill made)

So your Lusu will not be returning because it is Chinese, because only Chinese infantry respawn, at least according to the manual. It may return because it is an HQ, if it is part of "Most HQ"

I looked in the editor, and it wasn't obvious to me what specifies which HQs return so perhaps "Most HQ" is really "All HQ". But at least per the manual (far better than Witp-Classic but still fallible) there's no guarantee Lusu will return.

Not a logical conclusion I made. Other than HQs, none Chinese units never return. Para 16.4.2 is saying that Chinese units will return which does not imply that their HQ won't.

HQs that start the game in the Philippines, Malaya, and DEI are the most likely candidates to not be part of "most HQ."  For example, I'm pretty sure that USAFFE will not return after it's lost.

I lost the Lusu HQ as well but mine is in the queue to return unless the problem is a variable thing or in how you lost it. IIRC mine surrendered after a couple of battle retreats
