Possible Bug: Buildings stay transparent

Post by MarkShot »

As I understand it, if there are troops in a building, the building will go transparent. I assume if they exit, the building will go solid.

My buildings seem to be staying transparent even though empty.

Thanks.

That has been observed. Though I didnt think it was consistent. I do know it happens to me, at least sometimes. I don't know if that is being fixed in patch.

Also Inf occupying building at range (out of sight range) can change distant building to transparent (though no inf SEEN in it).

`Ruins one's sneaking plans.

But as bug fixing takes forever, breath holding is not recommended.[:D]

My specific instance had to do with buildings being mounted and unmounted right from the initial scenario setup.

Yes and also when reinforcements appear in a building at the beginning of given turn.

This invisible building thing might not happen when already occurring enemy run to and occupy a building.

I think it could have something to do with the multiverse and space-time folding back in upon itself where the building is located. Wasn't there a theory or something that stated that time slows down as your units get closer and closer to entering a building for cover? Even more strange is how rounds fired that pass close to a building appear to bend and hit guys cowering behind it. More so, when rounds are fired into smoke ... you can either determine their location by having them lodge into your infantry or their velocity as they wiz out the other side, but not both. And lastly, while smoke covers the field, Fritz may be alive or dead. It is only when it clears and you observe Fritz collapsed and bloodied or still sprinting that his bit flips to 0b or 1b.

I must say that wargaming can be truly bizarre at times! :)

When PzC came out, people complained that it only modelled a 1kmx1km battlefield. However what they failed to realise was that it was calculating the results down to the Planck scale.

In situations where reality and PCK differ, it is invariably reality which has got it wrong.

The building generally resets to solid during the turn processing.  I guess it only turn on transparent during orders and placement but not off.

Einstein said when discussing Quantum mechanics something to the affect that "I cannot believe that G*d plays dice with the Universe". Clearly, Einstein was not a wargamer. :)

Yes. But the case of quantum theory and a black hole proves G*d not only plays dice but sometimes throws them where they can't be seen.

This seems to work most of the time during turn orders.  Unmount and the building returns to normal.  I did notice one empty transparent building at the start of orders.   When I clicked on it, it returned to normal.  (Just don't know what happened to the squad that was in that building.  Maybe he retreated?)

[Edit] I just did a quick test and during setup if you move an infantry unit out of a house you just click on the house and it returns to normal.
