Editing Mines

Post by rockmedic109 »

I am modding a campaign. Adding a few pilots {father-in-law, etc}.

I am thinking about slight mod to the mines. I've read that mines upgrade on ships. If I change the end date field on a mine, will this screw up any upgrading?

What a coincidence, I've been thinking about editing my mother-in-law onto a baka bomb.

Okay, no, I don't have the answer to your question, just a smartass comment. But, hey, you got a cheap bump out of it. [:D]

Like I keep telling my wife......I'd rather be a smartass than a dumbass!

Thanks for the bump.  I've already started my new game...or the real one.  I started two to learn on.

I modded the start time for the British mines to begin production in 12/41.  And I took away the end production date for the Dutch mine {I figured if the dutch minelayers are saved then they would build VH2 mines for them or modify them to take other mines}.  I tried to mod a couple of other mines to begin earlier but did not see it work {perhaps they won't be produced till an older mine factory stops making the old mine and converts to the new one?}.  I did not increase mine production out of fear that the Devs limited mine production as a play balance feature {they've forgotten more than I know about the game and I defer to their judgement}.

I had to add my father-in-law.  He was on his way to Australia as a B-25 pilot when the war ended.  I married late in life and by the time I met him, he was usually in a pleasantly confused state.

Honestly, it would be more likely they'd have new mine rails installed to accept a locally produced (read British) mine type, since they will be operating out of Australia.

I looked for the easy solution.  I'm not sure I could set up the Dutch to upgrade to the new mines.  It's probably easier than I think, I'd just hate to screw up and discover the screw up after spending several months gaming.
