converting from XP to Vista

Post by Lt Matthews »

My old computer is dying and I need to upgrade to vista on a new computer. I will transfer all my data to my new computer via usb connection. What do I have to do to my steel panthers version? is there a patch for it or do I have to download from scratch??

What I did was do a new install on the new PC and then once that was in I just copied all my files from my old PC on a jump drive and then had them over-write the new folders and files.

I have not had any serious hang ups with Vista...but who knows what will happen with Windows 7 comes out at the end of October? [&:]  Hopefully since it is more or less a stripped down version of Vista there will not be any new hang ups.

Reportedly, some versions of Win7 will include a VM of WinXP, which may (or may not) help with the lack of Vista compatibility.

My recommendation is a small, cheap USB flash drive to back up the installs of everything you download, any purchased MP3's, and so forth.
