Forts?

From the front lines in France and Russia to the deserts of North Africa and the airfields and convoys of Britain, the campaigns of World War II are yours to command in WW2: Time of Wrath! This turn-based grand strategy title, the highly improved and expanded sequel to WW2: Road to Victory, puts the player in charge of the political, economic and military decisions of one or more Axis or Allied nations, including minor nations.

Forts?

Post by Akmatov »

I know you can't build forts, like the West Wall; but is this something we might see in the future or is is impossible?

Fort building was one of considered features and we  figured out that there are three important reasons to abandon the idea:

1)    cost of implementation was too high  - theoretically every thing is possible to add, but practically  99,9% of things are so time consuming that a better choice is to do a coupe of other things instead of one inefficient in terms of required time and possible effect.

2)     we have flexible event system which allow to add an fort anywhere and such events are “almost no time consuming”; so if you see a need for some extra forts  give us a hint and we will try to implement such events in future patches.

3)    unpredicted  impact on gameplay balance (scenarios are designed for current set of features) and influence on AI performance against smart human players (as long-term effect which would require even more work to counter this risk).

Very interesting, so:
* You could include a West Wall event, set to trigger under certain circumstance, or
* One might do a tiny mod oneself to do that, maybe?.  (can you add an event to an on-going game?)
