Supply movement in China

Post by Laxplayer »

Having problems with supply in China. I have plenty in Chungking (over 35k last I checked), but it is NOT moving to bases and LCU's that need it. I have about 15 units in Changteh with only 3 having any supply. There are no enemy units in the hex, and I have a clean supply line back to Chungking. Same situation in Changsa, though not quite as dire. Also happening in Kukong, though there are enemy units in that hex... but still have a clean supply line (over a major rail I might add) to bases with supply.

No, I have not upped the supply requirement manually to any bases nearby, including Chungking.

I have a PBEM save if you want it.

Chiang will try to hoard some of it with his Command HQ at Chungking.

In addition depending on the length of the supply path supply will only move on certain days of the week....some longer paths may only move 1 day out of the week.

This has been the case for several weeks. I moved all the nearby units surrounding Ichang into the city on the first turn of the game. They had no supply from that point, and haven't gotten any since. And when I say "any" I don't mean just a little bit... I mean ZERO supply. So that doesn't jive with what you are saying.

They were ejected from Ichang in January, IIRC, which is no suprise considering they had 0 supply and were facing a decent (though by no means overwhelming) amount of IJA troops. Even on the friendly side of the river from Ichang, they still received no supply. Even when I moved them 2 hexes to Changteh, they received NO supply.

China is tough on supply as allied. You must reduce your supply usage as much as possible. Turn off all replacements, turn off all base building, put as many rear area units on rest/training. Minimize your attacks. Important Turn OFF all repair facilities in beginning. China has disabled resources/Light industry in beginning and will automatically try and repair it at 10k per pop. These things all reduce available supply and come before your troops get anything. Hopefully you will get a better distribution after these efforts.

Ya. That's all been done since the first turn.

I've got the typical mediocre supply one would see in China for the units in the rest of the theatre. It's the 3 specific instances I'm talking about which are way out of the ordinary.

Since people seem to be ignoring this, I thought I'd provide some screenshots of the situation (now in late March and still no change).

Here, my base supply at Changteh is now fine.

Chungking has between 28 - 32k (because of Cmd HQ) supply requirement which is why your troops are not getting supplies. If the base the unit is at has excess above its own req then troops will be supplied otherwise not.

You are actually doing better than I am. I only now hold Chungking and Sian in my PBEM among the major cities. My opponent has made it clear he wants to take China out of the game early!! I have sent troops all the way back to Chungking to get supplied and then returned them to action. That just makes a small speed bump to the evil empire advance.

Also, I have noticed that once Chungking gets to over 35k or so, there is a sudden disbursement of supply to the field which reduces Chungking to <20k. This has happened twice (we are in 4/14/42) since the beginning of the game. You know it will happen once you have the ability to build Chungking above lvl 6 fort. Naturally, the disbursement stops that process.

Changteh

I disagree that is the reason (he is at Changteh not Chungking). IIRC reading previously the base requirements are the minimum requirements that the LCU's are asking for. If you are base constructing or flying a/c or repairing industry than these requirements are above this listed amount and could affect the LCU's receiving supply.

As you can see from his screenshot, there is NO base building, NO aircraft at the base (no av support required) and NO repairing (his supply is under the 10K required).

Therefore all his LCU's should be at or close to 100% supplied. I have never seen this elsewhere without the above explainations.

There has to be another reason.

While you are right about Chungking needing that supply, you are wrong that this is the reason... I have 35k supply in Chungking. I stated this in the very first sentence of my first post in this thread.

Here's a pic... plenty of supply in Chungking.

Which is why you need 2x the req to supply troops.

In a nutshell... The base in question has supply; enough of it to meet it's supply requirements. The units in the base aren't receiving ANY supplies (not some, not a little, NONE). The base's supply requirements are calculated from the supply needs of the LCU's at the base. It makes no sense that a base with no building/repairing going on would not distribute the supply to the units located there.

IT'S A BUG.

Same as witp.

So the BUG was not fixed than? [:D][;)]

I have seen the same thing what Laxplayer said. It might work as "intended" but to the whole theatre needs quite a lot of fine tuning.

Than again I know it is waste of breath since as you stated quite frankly.. "working as intended".

I played WITP. If you had a base with exactly the required supply, the units in the base would be supplied. Even if you had LESS than required supply, some of it would still go to the units. There is no way this is working as intended. This is only the case at 3 bases in China. Basically the entire rest of the game board this is not happening.

Burma road is still open. Rangoon is still in my hands and being heavily supplied via cargo transport on a regular basis. Supply is still flowing around China and getting to most of the LCUs and support units. It's just not going to the units in Changteh, Kukong and a few LCUs in non-base hexes (the last I can understand somewhat).

LCUs can be supplied from any base not just the one it is at so in some cases where the only base that can supply the lcu is the base it is at does not have greater than its supply requirement then the lcu does not get re-supplied.

If the China command HQ, whatever it's called, were moved to a non-base hex, would that reduce the supply requirement at Chungking (and not establish it in the non-base hex)?
