Video Error, Changes desktop resolution after exit

Post by NefariousKoel »

I've had some oddities running this in a widescreen 1680x1050 resolution.

Really, I'm grateful it's even possible as most other Matrix games don't even have the option.

However, when I exit the game I get a windows error "ding" sound. Everything is fun until I restart my computer and then my desktop resolution is inevitably reduced to 1280x1024 IIRC. Oh that jacks up my desktop icons! [:-]

Also.. I'm getting that video issue someone else was when I start the game. The first video will freeze the game, I'll have to alt-ctrl-del and kill the game. However, when I restart after doing that, the videos will run fine.

I suspect those two things are related.

I'm using Vista32, 8800GTS w/ 185.85 drivers. Also, I have Aero on but always use "disable desktop composition" for each game shortcut so it disables it while playing. Perhaps I'll screw around with that and see if I don't actually need to use it..

After changing my 'disable desktop composition' it still has the same problem.

First intro video freezes and I have to kill the program, restart, and it works okay the second time.  The video freezing seems to be the cause of those issues.

So disable those videos :) Go to your ToWs data directory and rename both intro.avi and intro2.avi to _intro.avi and _intro2.avi or any other :)

Thanks.  Didn't know if that would have an adverse effect.

Even with the vids disabled, I'm still getting the windows error 'ding' after exiting the game.

I've found that logging out of windows & back in will prevent my desktop resolution from resizing down on next startup, though.
