I do not know yet. Maybe, something to do with the two guys I have in Training Command? [&:] That is the first I have seen of that being recorded.

I think it means that your pool of replacement pilots is empty for those nations. So a bunch of pilots who aren't fully trained yet have been "graduated" and will need to finish their training in operational squadrons. (In other words, you're getting replacements with lower than the usual starting experience levels.)

Richard Ira Bong
World War II air ace, b. near Poplar. He attended Superior State Teachers College, but left in 1941 to volunteer as a flying cadet. Commissioned a second lieutenant, he arrived in Australia, Sept., 1942, as a fighter pilot, and was promoted to the rank of captain in Aug., 1943. By the fall of 1943, having shot down a record number of 28 Japanese planes, he was sent to the U.S. for a rest, and at his own request attended gunnery school. In 1944 he was assigned to noncombat work in New Guinea as a gunnery instructor, insisted on flying additional combat missions, and shot down 12 more enemy planes to bring his total to 40, with 9 more planes probably destroyed. He was promoted to the rank of major in Apr., 1944, and won 26 decorations to become one of our most decorated war heroes. On Dec. 7, 1944, General MacArthur personally decorated him with the Congressional Medal of Honor in the Philippines. Other decorations included the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Air Medal. He became an army test pilot and was killed in the crash of a P-80 Shooting Star in California.

Gregory Boyington
(December 4, 1912 - January 11, 1988) was a United States Marine Corps officer who was an American fighter ace during World War II. For his heroic actions, he was awarded both the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross. Boyington flew initially with the American Volunteer Group ("The Flying Tigers") in the Republic of China Air Force during the Second Sino-Japanese War. He later commanded the famous U.S. Marine Corps squadron, VMF-214 ("The Black Sheep Squadron") during World War II. Boyington became a prisoner of war later in the war. He retired from the Marine Corps at the rank of colonel.

William Faulkiner Allshorn
was born on 20th April 1913. He enlisted on 15th July 1935, and on 1st October 1939 was promoted as Temporary Flight Lieutenant. On 12th October, he went to an Elementary Training Squadron. On 9th October 1940, William joined No. 5 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS) and on 1st July 1941 was promoted to Temporary Squadron Leader. William joined 453 Squadron as Commanding Officer on 17th August 1941. On 10th October, he was posted to 21 squadron, holding the same rank. On 19th May 1942, William was posted to HQ (S.A.), and for the rest of 1942, moved to S of A Co-op, AFHQ, No. 2 Australian Corps, until on 10th December he was posted to 4 Squadron. On 15th January 1943, while with 4 Squadron, he became the Commanding Officer, and was promoted on 1st June to Flight Lieutenant, and again on 1st August to Acting Wing Commander.

Joseph Jacob Foss
Captain, US Marine Corps Reserve; Marine Fighting Squadron 121, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing
Born: 17 April 1915, Sioux Falls, S. Dakota.
Citation: For outstanding heroism and courage above and beyond the call of duty as executive officer of Marine Fighting Squadron 121, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, at Guadalcanal. Engaging in almost daily combat with the enemy from 9 October to 19 November 1942, Capt. Foss personally shot down 23 Japanese planes and damaged others so severely that their destruction was extremely probable. In addition, during this period, he successfully led a large number of escort missions, skillfully covering reconnaissance, bombing, and photographic planes as well as surface craft. On 15 January 1943, he added 3 more enemy planes to his already brilliant successes for a record of aerial combat achievement unsurpassed in this war. Boldly searching out an approaching enemy force on 25 January, Capt. Foss led his 8 F-4F Marine planes and 4 Army P-38's into action and, undaunted by tremendously superior numbers, intercepted and struck with such force that 4 Japanese fighters were shot down and the bombers were turned back without releasing a single bomb. His remarkable flying skill, inspiring leadership, and indomitable fighting spirit were distinctive factors in the defense of strategic American positions on Guadalcanal.

Boyd David Wagner
1941- The first Ace in World War II was First Lieutenant Boyd David Wagner of Johnstown, PA. On December 11th, Lieutenant Boyd D. 'Buzz' Wagner, Commander of the 17th Pursuit Squadron, took off on a one-man reconnaissance mission to observe the Japanese landings at Aparri.As he flew over Aparri, Wagner could not resist decending lower to strafe the enemy.In doing so, he was jumped by five Zeros. To escape, 'Buzz' rolled over and dived for the sea, but he failed to escape from two of the Zeros following him. He suddenly chopped his power and the enemy planes zoomed passed him and came into his gun sights. 'Buzz' blazed away with his machine-guns and the two zeros burst into flames.In a daring maneuver, Lt.Wagner made another pass coming back low over the water.The Japanese were surprised. 'Buzz' strafed 12 parked Zeros, and left, leaving several planes burning.The U.S. Command was not pleased with Wagner's extra air involvement on the mission.However, his actions were soon overlooked. Several days later 'Buzz' Wagner headed a flight of three P-40s against an enemy-held field at Vigan, Philippines.Lt.Wagner and his wingmen, Lieutenants Church and Strauss began to rip up the field with 30-pound fragmentation bombs. Wagner was later awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his exploits at Vigan.
