My borders are no longer moving?

I find supply lines and the cutting off of them to be probably the most powerful manouver in ToW. Since applying the Beta patch (which is superb by the way and making me have to work much harder to achieve victory), the borders do not move with your units making this harder to track. It is also a real pain when you then have to click on some hexes just to see if you have cleared them i.e have just refused British surrender so am now trying to make sure GB doesn't control any of its island hexes. Can I turn this on again anywhere or is this a delibrate choice as part of the new game?
