Any way to speed up messages?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Any way to speed up messages?

Post by DTomato »

Can the message delay be speeded up so that each message flashes for 0.5 seconds instead of 3?

Not permanently. Press the space bar, and the messages flash by, until the next screen refresh. I can look at changing this on the options page, but Ron already has a list for me...

I think it would be a really good idea, Harley. Turn resolution in the Battle of Britain campaign takes almost an hour per turn (about as much time as plotting moves in a typical WITP:AE turn), and most of that time is spent watching the messages crawl by.

Please add the ability to SLOW down the messages. The game runs too fast on my machine (which is nowhere near being a top of the line PC)
"Lose" is the opposite of "win." "Loose" is the opposite of "tight."

This reminds me about the end of turn messages about the promotions, new commanders, and Axis troop movements, "flying by".
I don't remember seeing any messages about how fast they are.

Agreed with E. The game even on highest message delay and slowest clock speed zooms by on my machine. Raids fly by and if I'm not double-clicking the start/stop button to advance the action as little as possible, I miss a bunch of action pulses. The map scrolling is on steroids too; a quick arrow to the left or right on the BTR campaign map will run from one side to the other. It's really frustrating trying to fine tune my view when the camera keeps zooming from one side of the map to the other.

can you give us some of your computer specs ?

Vista Business 64-bit - Service Pack 1
4 GB RAM
Intel Core2Duo E8400 (3ghz)
EVGA nVidia 8800GTS 640MB - Driver version 190.38 (WHQL)

I haven't done any of the affinity/DXDiag changes that people who have been doing to fix slowdown issues. I will try that tonight when I get home and see if it has the opposite effect for me.

Update: Added extra info to my system specs

Update: Tested lowering priority of BTR.exe to low and setting to use only one CPU. Map control is still crazy fast and raids progress faster than I can usually manage without constantly double-clicking on the Start/Stop button
