Another RTFM Manual--Hemajor stay out

Post by Q-Ball »

KB is at Truk, and my torp sorties ain't replenishing.

Truk has 100K+ Supplies, Size-6 port
Over 350+ Nav Support here (2 Naval HQ)
Tried docking CV's individually, no replenish; so it's not because I can't dock

Am I missing something? Manual sez size-6 port needs 160 Nav support for size-6 port to rearm (pg. 288). Right?

Side Note: My Zeros are taking a beating over Luzon. I have been getting licks in, but it's not pretty. I am sweeping at 20K ft., opponent has P-40s set to 12 or 15K CAP. Generally, looks like about 2-1, sometimes better, sometimes worse. Is this what others are experiencing?

If so, it's going to be a long war for the Zero units!

Two things to check:

Are the naval HQs in combat mode? Only combat mode helps.

Look at the base screen, and see if you see the naval squads. If not, there is a bug where some of the HQs aren't adding their naval support. I believe it's the command HQs.
EDIT: From a post JWE made today, this bug *may* be a display issue only. In which case it wouldn't be a source of your problem.

QBall,
see here... tm.asp?m=2247293

Looks like patch 2, as well as having support in place

Thanks guys, plenty of Nav Support, and it's in Combat Mode.

Must be patch 2 issue, I should be getting torps....I'll try a disband, otherwise it will have to be bombs. Would the presence of an AIR HQ make a difference?

I thought this was the only repository of torps avail ??? Still I'm not speaking from game experience[&:] ... too much Tracker work unfortunately.

Manual is silent if this is necessary; however, I think it may be the problem.

A few days ago, I did replenish CVs at Truk successfully. Since then, I moved the AIR HQ there to Rabaul. I have another AIR HQ about to land at Truk; I'll see soon if that's the difference. If it is, good to know for future reference.

I had the same problem, even on Palau with mini KB. I just left my TFs in the port until I could bring all those support ships in hope they will help (I dont know wich so I sent all of those AS,AG,AGP,AE,AKE...).
But before they arrived next turn while my TF was in the port sitting there (dont even think they were docked?) they "refueled" everything, including torps spare planes etc...
So maybe just leave them one turn in port and see if they reload it?

For the HQ torpedoes, I just realized that some times it will deplete and you have to by MANUALLY new torps for them (btw in max 10 intervals), dont know if this is only in low-value ports.

And a question on your side note about zeros , do you see combat animations? I am discovering that result shown in them are much better than the ones showed in the operational report, at least to airfield attacks

Naval Support squads help rearm carrier sorties and carrier torpedo sorties. Torpedoes for land-based aircraft are supplied by Air HQs or appropriate Base Forces that have a "Torpedo Ordnance" device. They are different.

No.

One more time; there is a blivet with proper capture, display and use of NavSup squads in Naval HQ LCUs. This has been addressed for patch-2.

In the meantime, use Eng-type LCUs that include NavSup squads; those work properly. Or go to a bigger port. Or use amunition tenders.

Just convert an AKE and you are fine - thats what I did for Truk. Also gives me the ability to rearm ships away from Truk when / if the need arises.

Thanks JWE for feedback. I converted several AKEs turn one, just takes awhile to complete and deploy them. But they will be very useful ships.

Um, I thought there was also an issue with AKEs rearming torpedo sorties? I posted a save on this and someone (I think Don, I can find the post if needed) confirmed it as a bug.

The bug was only with AKE or same thing goes for AE ?

Don't have any AEs so I can't say for sure

Here's what don had said in a PM
TF1 (as an example, there's another TF there behaving the same way). Won't reload torpedo sorties. Manual says torpedoes are a 1500 rearm cost; the AKE has a capacity of 4900 and is an appropriate tender type.

Yes, looks like an issue specifically related to carrier torpedoes.

No - it had nothing to do with rearming anything specifically. There were some burps in the tender rearm thing - totally fixed in patch-2. But, we're rearming everything now - it just takes some fiddling.
