It's amazing to me how many similar figures have been living in New York City for decades. Chiang Kai-shek's widow lived there for many years, too, and I know I've read obituaries of other ousted royal sorts who ended up there, living mostly obscure lives.

Thanks for the link-I missed that bit of news.
I have recently re-kindled an interest in the Ottoman Empire due to my exposure to a nearby game.
Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies.

I think I misread the article a bit -- since a nephew is mentioned I don't think this was the last heir. Apparently the last one born while the Ottomans were still reigning, though.
