Midget sub loading and management

Post by Cavalry Corp »

It would be nice to know which I subs can load them - or have I missed something. Maybe a sign could be added.

In the guadalcanal scn there seems to be just one I sub that can do it .

Am I correct the midgets are selected after the I sub for the TF ? I did this OK but the fuels is always on red on the midget . I assume it is not taking any fuel from the parent . I assume that when I get to a port of my choice I can detatch the midget sub ( at one hex?? , Two ?? ) and send it to attack the port .
Does any port defence make any difference , does the DL level of the port add any help to the attack ?

Can a midget sub get back to the I sub and be re loaded??

I cannot find much about midget subs in the manual

Of the starting subs, only the 5 that historically carried them (can't remember the numbers offhand and don't want to guess).  I have no idea if any reinforcement subs can carry them.

It's only the Type C1 boats, I-16, -18, -20, -22 and -24. who can carry them.

A better question perhaps: Is it worth trying?

I can only judge on PH, but I have seen it a bunch of times, and you lose all 5 subs, 15 pts. Occasionally, you get 1 hit. Seems a waste. Just like RL.

One hit on an allied CV in Guadalcanal scn is worth trying as with three fleet carriers I see there is now way for the Japs to win that scn.

Which brings me to another question how does targetting work for midgets ?? Will they go forthe juicy one , or just pick at random, seems like t PH when I ahve seen it they attack the BB

True. Maybe someday. Not sure exactly how we would do that.

I don't remember if order is important but you have to have one midget and one carrier sub. One loaded the midget does not use fuel during the trip to the target (it's being carried). The carrier sub can not refuel the midget so you should be sure to fully fuel it before leaving.

Can a midget sub get back to the I sub and be re loaded??

Yes, if it survives the attack.

And by "reloaded", we mean "loaded back on board the big sub", not "be rearmed and refueled".
