Plane Icons?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

that is a limit based on the size of the art, if we can get 180*180, then the detail is good enough that the icon can be scaled

but I think we will be at the mercy of the kind hearted Modders and artists

Something is in the works. First is going to be large scale stuff, then something with smaller fighters will follow later [:)]

Anyone else have a big slowdown when using the plane icons as opposed to the "flight lines?"

I don't have a BIG slow down, but it's noticeable...I definitely notice an increase in gameplay when using roundels.

Edited to say that it should be expected

How would one make an art mod? Are the plane icons bitmaps? If so, is it a case of creating a smaller one and replacing the original (with backup of course!)?

In simple terms yes. It gets a bit more complex when you factor in the pink mask version. These need to line up exactly, and the 45 degree version can't just be the normal pic rotated as it mixes up the edge pixels and causes pink smudges everywhere. Practice is the best way to do it [;)]

Dixie - if you do get around to 180*180, all I would need is 0° on Magenta, I could then scale and rotate in-situ. These tiny one look awful with dynamic rotation, that's why I had to ask for the 45°. You could keep the 0° on sky at the current size and fill the box, as you only ever see one at a time, so relative size doesn't matter. With the 180 version, I would envision it scaled to representative sizes, not necessarily accurate sizes.

Wow!

Imagine having Group and Squadron markings, and invasion strips appearing on D-day, etc! [:D]

Actually, that is some nice work.

Not me.....

Those great plane tops are Dixie's. If only I had half the talent (or a tenth the time [:(])
