Fate of AA guns after loss of ground installations

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Fate of AA guns after loss of ground installations

Post by Thales99 »

I have a question about the fate of AA guns when ground installations are captured. Will they eventually return to the pool or are they captured/destroyed?

In other words, should I try to "rescue" them by transferring them to the pool manually before the installation falls into enemy hands or would this just be a waste of transfer pool points?

gone... overrun... captured.

If you have time to get them back, sure... But on some sites leaving them might get you a kill or two even on the day of capture... It's up to you....

I've also found that overtime you'll have far more AA's to deploy than you have op points....especially if you're having to move your planes around too..........

Initially, you may want to move some AA from areas that you know are going to be invaded soon. You will want to beef up your most exposed airfields with some hefty AA if they are easily suject to raids/sweeps and you want to keep them.

Later in the game (longer extended campaigns), you may have an Operation Points problem partly because, aside from moving squadrons and balloons, the AA guns you will then have available cost a lot more to move than the MG's you used to move - lol.

If you get into the habit of using all your OP's every turn though, you will be doing well as possible. The AA you produce can wait to be deployed, but unused OP's are just lost.

True, but the heavier AA guns (88s) should always be saved because they are often in short supply.

Pros and cons though Alfred. In the early days it's important to move your Gruppe around since many of them are in less than desirable locations at game start.......that will soon suck up your Opps points coinciding with needing to move those 88's in Southern Italy

"... needing to move those 88's in Southern Italy."

Very true about the need to hold on to as many 88's as you can. [8D]

I wish there was a way to specifically target AAA, so I can help you guys with this movement problem! [:D]

Yeah, "green" missions. Horrible air polluters they are, constantly spitting metal into our precious atmosphere. Recycle an AA gun today! [:-]

Just hug the ground as hard and as low as you can (like 50 feet) with your bombing/sweep missions and we will see what we can do to provide you with as many of those little targets as you wish. Please just don't mind too much if they shoot back, lol.
