PBEM Setup

Post by davidjruss »

Am I being thick or is there no mention in the manual(s) or read me files of how to set and run a multiplayer (PBEM ) game ?

I cannot see this topic mentioned and have had to read the relevent section from the "Read Me" file on my original Talonsoft BOB disk . I assume that the procedure is the same. but if not could anyone point me to the relevent area please;

Also can anyone advise if in a PBEM game the raid plotting phase can be saved part way through to be completed later when RL intrudes on the phase completion , or must one enter the info and return a turn to an opponent at one complete sitting .

I'm trying to remember back to the old days and, iirc, you cannot save mid-way through your turn.

Well , I have just set up a BOB PBEM game against myself and e-mailed myself a couple of quick turns. The game appears to allow you to partially save your raid plotting and then resume later before formally ending the phase and emailing the turn to your opponent,

However I would appreciate confirmation from the experts that this is possible so I know for definate that doing this will not break a PBEM game.

There is no reason you can't save mid-planning phase, all that happens is that you cannot send it to your opponent. You could play the MTO commander and send it to the ETO commander, but you'd have to share btruser.dat files, as they have the key in them.

The defender cannot job-share, as it's real-time response.

Yahoo looks into the .zip file and still rejects it. I just used my gmail a/c to send in the end.

There doesn't appear to be anything in the manual bout how to start a pbem game. Would it be worth me putting a doc together about how to do it (assuming I've got it right)?

It's an encrypted zip file. Yahoo is being an ass.
