Auto-Planning Missions

Hitting the Auto Plan Missions button doesn't generate any missions. What are the steps to do so ?? Manual doesn't say.

sometimes you lack the resources to do so. If the staff cannot plan acceptable missions, they don't. Normally cou get a short message saying something like not enough resources.

Johnnie - you need to put your commands on Computer Control to use the auto-plot button on the main screen. If you go into the bomber doctrine page you can set computer control there.

You can use the doctrine page buttons to auto-plot missions for one command only without giving the command computer control. You can pick one target, a target location and let the AI decide which to hit, or plot all raids from this screen.

So if you set some commands to computer control they won't plot missions unless you activate auto-plot from the main screen? Auto pllot only works for commands on computer control???

Yes, I think it's an on/off toggle (I'll check tomorrow), and Yes, definately.

Computer control also sets the computer to move/advance units. This might happen without auto-plot.

I ran a test turn. When auto-plot is on, Computer Controlled commands run missions. When auto-plot is off, they don't do anything. Isn't it kind of redundant to have to do both? I would think that Commands under computer control would run missions without auto-plot being enabled! What is the sense of computer control then????

All I know is that I was playing around with the one week Eagle Day scenario. I put all of the German commands except one on computer control. They didn't fly any missions. The only missions flying were the ones that I plotted with my one command that I was controlling. I enabled auto-plot and presto, the other commands that were on computer control started flying missions??? I still was able to plot my own missions with the Group/Command that I controlled....

Is this how it is supposed to work? If so, what does having the computer control certain Headquarters without auto-plot enabled acheive?

I was testing on the same scenerio as you. The only difference I see is that I had no human plotted missions, I let the AI choose all. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, I'll have to experiment some more.

There is an AAR being run by Bunyap. He is only controlling the 12th Air Force and letting the computer run the other commands. I wonder if other than assigning those commands to the computer, is he enabling auot-plot? I'll have to go back and re-read his set-up notes...
