Does Italy defendable

Has anyone tried to defend Italy. Is it possible. For how long can we postphone Avalanche. There is a certain aircraft location rule. Is it possible to keep italy in war by hugely Relocating planes In italy.

Any exprience!!!!!!!!

Every plane in ost and almost all the night fighters. If game doesnt count day and night figter [;)] And Many exprienced groups that I want to preserve for 1944 jet drives.


You see it is a operational decison Germany cant be strong in both sides Either France or Italy. And keeping italy in war is very beneficient. They got so many exprienced pilots and Losing is a kind of Domino Effect. ANY sitting plane in ost is better in Italy if the prevent those Aircraft bases from changing sides.

But I dont know has anyone tried this method.

As a side note By doing this a PBEM opponent has to move some units from Britain to reinforce Italy or else local Air power Of Germany can be to great. And looking to map italy has some large number of airbases to disperse such a force.

With Sicily fallen you have no hope of delaying the invasion of the mainland by airpower alone. The invasion of Normandy can be affected by your prowess in the air.

Well in game tems As long as I keep Italy in war There are lots of Figters and pilots. And Ost is more secure.

But Normandy is innevitable..........

If I decide to destroy utmost Allied planes Italy is a better Bet I think. It is very shrink area.

Go for the throat while you can, for sure. But you can't stop or delay avalanche, as on the day the game starts you have only 2 weeks. If you had 6 months, and could stop Husky, then you could try and stop avalanche, but in this game it's not possible.

you really wouldn't be saving much, other then delaying the capture, building of bases, but, the Allies could still take off from Sicily and do major damage, and you would still be losing Sardina and Corisa

The Italian pilots are generally "Easy Meat".
I would argue that by keeping Italy in the war longer all you are doing is increasing the axis aircraft losses anyway.

put them in better planes, and they turn into decent pilots fast enough, wait till the ANR comes in

Well in the game they have dozen of over 90 grade pilots. I dont know how was it in real life. I can easly Bargain 500 Bf 109 with 100 P 47 If I still keep the 300 pilots.
