Resource Pooling at Shimonseki

Post by Q-Ball »

This was raised by a couple folks earlier, I can confirm that I am also having a resource pooling problem at Shimonseki. This port is most convenient for resource drops from Korea and China, but after less than a month I am at 975,000 Resources, despite receiving notices that Osaka and Tokyo are not receiving adequate amounts.

I guess the fix is to route those convoys to Osaka and Tokyo, but that greatly lengthens transit times and hulls needed.

Anyone else having this issue? What is your fix?

After hearing others comments, I don't ship into Shimonseki.
I still have problems with Tokyo running out occassionally, due to its high demand and there is enough resources nearby.

So no real fix have I found.

This needs to be fixed by devs in patch 2 without excuses. Jap player cant aford to keep transoprt TF running between Tokyo and Shimo to correct the problem because Japs are running short on transports as it is.

I also agree the movement of resources and Fuel needs to be improved here are messages I get frequently thru tracker

33 Base Heijo Insufficient fuel for HI Short 1 Major
33 Base ChangchunInsufficient fuel for HI Short 3 Major
33 Base Harbin Insufficient fuel for HI Short 8 Major
33 Base Peiping Insufficient fuel for HI Short 2 Major

In the short run I can deal, in the long run this is a lot of HI in an area that should have plenty.

for me personally the whole Auto Convoy System looks broken like Hell (at last at Allied Side), nothing works as it should.
Especially San Francisco is a bad joke (not that Colombo workt much better but it sends at last Auto Convoy TF´s to those small Australia Citys, that dont need Supplies and completly ignore Darwin,Melbourn,Sydney,Brisbane etc.^^).
SF in other way hast 40 Ak´s in Auto Convoy System+nummerous TK´s,DD´s and KV and do not much more as send 1 or 2x in a Week a Cargo TF to Los Angeles,San Diego,Tacoma or so (that have all dozend or even houndert thousands Units of Fuel and Supplies) and some times to Pearl Harbour (tha has Supply and Fuel nearly at limit too)...and completly ignores all the small islands in South Pacific,New Zealand and Australia too.
Ah and from time to time it form a strange *Escort* TF with around 16k Supply Limit, lodas it up to nearly 15k and stays than at this level for all times in SF...you have to disband them from hand....very annoying.

So in short Word´s the Auto Convoy System not only not work´s well...it simply dont work anyway...its a lucky shoot if it sends a Cargo TF in time to the right Place.

i would strongly suggest you delete all changes you have done to it and restore the originally WitP System...it was not the smartest one but it had at last work, the new System is a completly failure and gives you only unneccesary work.

Sorry for bad english.

Your English is better than my Spanish [:)] Anyway I must admit that I think using Auto Convoy is not wise to begin with. Use CS in selective areas. Convoying is way too important to leave up to the AI imo.

Iwaki has the same problem. 999'999 Resources while Tokyo and other centres have shortages. Took me a while to figure out why my total Res stocks kept on dropping while I was shipping in the excess from every where else.....

Iwaki is a bigger problem, because I think it pools there without any ship-ins. THAT stinks; it means that you have to run convoys from Iwaki to Tokyo.

I wonder if a better idea is to let Honshu run to a Just-In-Time system for resources. At least then it would start drawing down those stockpiles.

I don't think that's a good idea, since you then have no safety margin at all.

Since Tokyo regularly runs out of Res and presumably doesn't fully produce HI/Supply in that turn I rather ship them in. Iwaki is at least convenient for that. Right now (about turn 70) I still have the ships and fuel to run them.
