hi seydlitz!

congrats to this unconvential strategy. [:)] im really looking forward
how this developes.

how much effect does the winter have on your advance?
would it make sense to slow the op tempo till the temperature and
weather gets better or does dely only make the russians stronger?

Winter increases ops losses on the ground and in the air. It also sets up many situations where some or all of your aircraft do not fly. Very bad if your fighters do not fly due to weather but your bombers do....right into the enemy cap. Ships also take significantly more system and engine damage.

I opted to go at game start since waiting only allows the allied player to increase fortification levels, training, and prep levels for the soviets. Also, the sooner you start the fight, the sooner it will be over and I can use the units elsewhere.

Theoretically, you can also use more of your obsolete army aircraft in Russia with better chances of success. In practice the Russians seem to do very well in those biplanes.

Turn 45 20 Jan 42

Very quick summary.

Clark Field fell to my forces and Mark's troops have retreated to Bataan for their last stand.

In China, I have several attacks scheduled for next turn.

I put my fighters on LRCAP over Kotou this turn and as predicted he focused his attacks on my fort unit there.
This gave him a nasty surprise.

TomLabel wins the prize. You need to email Carthes.

I believe that these are still a work in process and he wanted to see what kind of comments we received. Some I like better than stock and some I don't. Overall his work is very good as always.

The odds weren't really with the Soviets and they lost. However, I did lose a few small ships in the action including a sub chaser that was run down by my larger ships as they formed their battle formation.

After the battle the invasion fleet continued up the east coast of Sakhalin Island towards Okha. It was attacked several times by Soviet aircraft but only one minor hit was scored on a transport. I did have one attack where all of the bombs missed, but one of the transports lost a vehicle overboard!!!

Here are the naval losses for the turn. All were from the naval battle except for the I-24. Appearantly my opponent has laid mines just outside Tokyo Bay and I-24 hit one while departing for patrol. She sank one hex from Yokohama.

Again we clashed in the air over Kotou, and again I shot down a lot of Soviet aircraft. If this keeps up I will eventually gain the upper hand in the air in this region.

Here is my aces leaderboard. Thanks to two days of heavy fighting over Kotou I now have two double aces and several more pilots getting close to that status. His loss of SB-2s were especially heavy.

In Manchuko I again forced him back a hex towards Shilka and I am following up. I run the risk of having him cut me off from the rear but I have two more divisions moving up the road to secure that situation. For whatever reason he seems extremely weak in this area so I feel that I can hurt him badly if I am able to advance to the rail line.

Here is what the area around Vladivostok looks like. He pulled a smart move by moving two large LCUs into the hex at Rybilov where my units were advancing on Voroshilov. I had already covered 33 miles of the 46 and I had to drop out of movement with the whole stack to fight him. That means that I will have to start the movement over again from scratch after the combat.
