You missed it. Those messages are only graphical, they have no effect on the actual turn resolution. They are like a progress bar to show at what point the end turn calculations are at. IF you set them to minimum it is still going to take a set amount of time to resolve the turn.

Who knew that the Argentines had such heavy paradrop lift capabilities and such long-range reach?
Something the MoD intelligence wing came up with - probably trying to make up for their blunder in completely missing the Argentinian build-up in the first place.
The order on our training base was recinded after only a couple of weeks. Fortunately by that time nobody had been killed, but everyone had to hand back the... variety of side and other arms they'd managed to accumulate and pop off with during the fortnight. Ahh, those were the days... [:'(]

try hitting the Esc key. it will speed up the processing until the next major phase of the combat turn.

And you won't miss messages because they are saved in the reports files. Open it up, read through it, switch to the game and find the hexes where interesting things occurred. Now that the turn is done, you can do something RIGHT THEN about any issues, as opposed to having to remember to do it later if you are evaluating during resolution.

Nope, the way it works now is absolutely 100% the best and right way. Sorry.

Well OK,

how many "progress bar" messages show up per turn?
Say 20.
Set the delay to 4 sec so you you get 1 min 20 sec of worthless messages.
Set the delay to 1 sec you get 20 sec.
Differenz 1 min.

Let´s say it´s weekend and you wife, children allow you at all 2 hours to play.
If you safe 1 min per turn, how many more turns you can play the day?

Or say you go for 30 turns a day. It could save you 30 min then.

But as I sayed - That´s only legal if that works also on the GC.

That works but is hard to find those hexes and it´s hard switching back-searching and back-searching and back-searching.....
So you can print the reports. How many pages pile up by end of the day?

And keep in mind:
I´m only unhappy with these routine messages:
ADJUST TASK FORCE MISSIONS - ASSIGNCOMPUTER CONTROLLED UNITS - AIRCRAFT LANDING - AIR - TRANSPORT PHASE - planing major raids - routine air operations.....and so on.

You do know that if they removed them the game turn would still take the same amount of time to complete, right?

Yes I know.

So maybe it´s possible to show these "routine messages" as short as possible and have the option to set the delay for the "interessting messages" via the option menue.

No it isn't. Simple little Alt-Tab. You'll get used to knowing the general area of different hex rows and will be to get right to the region quickly.

I keep the messages set to fast. I do a quick glance through the report when it is done to see if there's anything useful. Most of it isn't. I might check reports of a sub getting hit or a named ship sighting but that's about it.

Ok, I´m still a newbie, a freshman to the game. [:'(]
So if there´s something I dont´t understand, please tech me.

These timewasters, the text massages shown during the Turn Resolution Sequence - p... me.. off.[:@]
i. e. ADJUST TASK FORCE MISSIONS - ASSIGNCOMPUTER CONTROLLED UNITS - AIRCRAFT LANDING - AIR - TRANSPORT PHASE - planing major raids - routine air operations.....and so on.
Are those messages really important? Is there a information I can deal with? Aren´t they useless/senseless?

You are obviously playing against the AI. Those messages are the AI doing it's orders phase so yes they are important. No there is no info for you in it. As T said they just let you know what is happening. The speed of this depends on the speed of your computer [&:]
What is important is when it changes to the turn resolution/combat replay, which I wish was more obvious.
Usually the first I notice is when a combat animation pops up in the night phase.

The simplest way to get rid of the 'timewasters' is play PBEM - no more messages - just waiting for opponent to email turn files [:D]

On my 3.0 Core Duo with 4 GB of RAM it flies through without much delay at all.

On my relic laptop that I am forced to use at work {3.0 PIII? and 256MB of RAM} it takes three minutes to process the the air superiority phase. I guess there is a lot of number crunching going on in that phase.

How that "little Alt-Tab" works? [&:]

And I agree - getting used knowing the general areas by time.
But it takes time - well it´s not a racing game.

The game is worth any penny and I love it. There are less things I don´t like (these "to long shown on the monitor-routine messages" is one of the few). [:(]

When I´m playing, I sit excitedly and expectantly in front of the monitor.
So here seeing >ADJUST TASK FORCE MISSIONS - ASSIGNCOMPUTER CONTROLLED UNITS - AIRCRAFT LANDING - AIR - TRANSPORT PHASE - planing major raids - routine air operations.....and so on < again and again and again and...- double on 2 turn plays - drives me mad - it p... me off - Dev´s I´m sorry for that [:)].

Often if I find an advice on the forum or someone clarify why it´s this or that way and I learn how to work around my personal hitches so I can deal with it.

If you're in full screen mode and hit Alt-tab, it should bring you back to windows. So you can flip back and forth between the game and the report in your favorite editor.

Although if you're going to do a lot of that, you might find it easier just to run in window'ed mode. That's what I do. Then I can just use the taskbar to navigate between the game and anything else I'm looking at (various reports, witpstaff, tracker, etc.)

Stomp, stomp, stomp,

Templer, you are only a newbie and your opinions dont count, I surpresed you haven't been attacked for playing the AI.[8D]

Plus being a European with a less than perfect knowledge of the geography of the Pacific shouldnt be considered.

I'd love to look back at the thousands of "Irrelevant comments" kyboshed on the forum have somehow grown into
ideas which have been added to patches and brought WITP & WITPAE to the current standard, there was nothing wrong with the original map was there?

I know what happend with me.
My keybord have a special win-button beside the alt tab. So the "alt-rule" won´t work with me.

So I knew Mynok´s advice.

Reports are not sufficient, it is very time consuming go finding where each sighting report has occurred, as long as there is no interface help to navigate to the origin point. So at least seem them when they are being reportes is helpful

The excuse that in "real life" you will only have a report is very poor, in RL the decission taker has access to hundreds of staff people, maps, etc etc [In fact in RL no human being will be expected to have such a control in this war].

Very few sightings actually need to be looked at in more detail.

Holding down the Alt key and hitting the Tab key switches windows on ANY Windows computer, unless you've consciously broken it by remapping your keyboard.
