ED VS The AI ?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

ED VS The AI ?

Post by Richard III »

Anyone try this ?

Seems very hard to keep them from hitting you where your AC are not, or am I a really bad RAF type ?[;)]

Could use some advice.

well, it sounds like the AI is doing a good job !

overall, though, it sounds like you may be overreacting, to what the LW is sending out (which is what the LW wants)

Could use some advice.

It is exceptionally hard to actually stop a raid cold - well-nigh impossible, against fresh, full-strength units which are properly escorted.

The trick seems to be to consistently shoot down more bombers each day than the attackers receive as replacements that day, and do more damage to their morale than a night´s rest can restore. Because, if you do that, sooner or later units will have to "skip" a day, i.e. not fly missions, to rest and replenish plane strength and morale. It they don´t, you´ll see understrength raids, and/or bomber groups that turn back home when under heavy attack.

The even bigger trick here is doing the above, while preventing your own units from being similarly degraded.

If the attacker really wants to hit a certain facility, he will hit it, whatever you do, but you can make damn sure he doesn´t enjoy it. Also, putting lots of flak at a target not only hurts bombers and increases crew fatigue, but also seems to reduce bombing accuracy.

Altogether I consider ED easier to win than the original Battle of Britain. Flak seems to be less deadly.

Seriously, that is the game in a nutshell! Good Post.
