Empires in Arms is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. Empires in Arms is a seven player game of grand strategy set during the Napoleonic period of 1805-1815. The unit scale is corps level with full diplomatic options

Question about the manual

Post by MPHopcroft1 »

I have a question about that enormous PDF manual that came with EiA: is there a B&W version that I can get printed out without paying a hude premium for color printing at the copy shop (assuming they'll do it at all)?

While I'm here, I might as well ask -- are there such things as strategy guides for playing EiA?

Can't you just print the current one in B&W?

Now, i don't know that. Most color manuals I've seen (including EiA) have color schemes and illustrations that look awful in B&W. Occasionally they're completely unreadable.

I'm not sure whether there vare enough of these in the print-feriendly version of the EiA manual to cause trouble. It's so large that I haven't quite been able to read it through.

The manual you get if you hit the ? button in the game is black and white and can be printed. I don't know, however, whether the two manuals are kept in sync, nor, if they're not, which of the two is more up to date.

Thanks very much. Once I gte my computer changed over I'll look it up.

I'm just hoping that EiA plays nice with Windows 7.....

The updated v1.06 manual in the Data/docs directory is in color. I can try PDFing the updated v1.07 manual in both color and B&W and see how that looks? If there are examples of "awful" maybe I can make some adjustments. I'd like to keep improving the manual.
