Harpoon 3 [ANW] Scenarios for the ANW DB

Hello,

this new thread is exclusively dedicated for scenarios written with the ANW DB. The ANW DB is one of the two official databases distributed by AGSI.

One of the new players asked for more scenarios written for this database. I´ll make the start. The first scen will be posted here shortly.

Those scenarios are pure ANW scenarios written for a pure ANW database. They have no backwards compability to older Harpoon versions.

Please use the latest ANW scenario editor for writing and game engine for testing.

I hope this combination meets the requirements of those players asking for pure ANW stuff and the official ANW DB.

Hello,

the scens are under development. One is a large classical Cold War conflict full of Backfires, Carriers etc. [:)]


Two are finished and I´ve sent them already to AGSI. Since I cannot post zips or scen files here, they will hopefully be included in the next ANW DB release.

Yes, there are several possibilities; thx for the update.

But my upcoming H3 ANW scenarios will only be published as part of ANW DB or HUD 3 releases.

If anyone should be interested in rebuilding them, he has to respect the following:

- no rebuilding with prior versions of Harpoon 3; only with and for ANW
- no rebuilding with non-official databases; only ODB / HUD 3 / ANW DB allowed.

Ralf, where can I find your ANW scenarios?  I'm actually enjoying 3.9.4 quite a bit since it seems to have reduced the complexity of some of the more arcane subjects (ECM in particular).  Personally, I don't think *anyone* knows what the effect of ECM/ECCM will be, and so these overly complex mathematical models are probably false reassurance to people who adhere to them.  I also like how I can go to my copy of Harpoon4.1 and get some idea of how things will pan out.

Hello Erich,

few months ago, I have written two new scens for ANW DB so far (not those of mine which are already included in current the ANW DB). I have sent both of them to Dale Hillier who will pack them into the next ANW DB distribution.

Just to make you even more curious; here´s the storyline for one of them:

"The Trap v 4.0

A scenario exclusively for Harpoon 3 ANW and the ANW DB

The Trap is a classical Cold War scenario. I wrote it long ago for Harpoon 2, but could not make it as large as I liked because of H2´s performance problems. [:(]

These problems have gone [:)] Though the scen is really large, it should run fast enough on modern PC´s.

While it was two-sided back then I have rewritten it as US only, thus making the AI controlled side FAR stronger then it was. All bases, all missions have been redone for adding additional punch to your opponent.

So here you meet them all:

- squadrons of the deadly Soviet long range bombers, loaded with supersonic killer missiles
- the classical US carrier group
- the typical Cold War carrier air wings
- subs, subs, subs...

..combined with the ANW feature ship-to-ship underway replenishment. This is not luxury here, it is neccesary for the survival of your carrier group.

The Duel V 3.0
A scenario for Harpoon 3 ANW and the ANW DB

This scenario was, if I remember correctly, my first scen I wrote for and with Harpoon 2, back then in 1994 or so.

It bases on the Duel scen in Harpoon Classic, GIUK Battleset, but incorporates a lot of improvements.

This version 3.0 is Nato side only.

Hello Pooners,

I´ve just finished a scen for ANW 3.10 and the (upcoming) ANW DB V 2.3 called "Assault". It will be part of the 3.10 release (which includes ANW DB 2.3).

This scen focuses on the new ANW feature "boarding/takeover".

You´ll first have to shoot your way through a massive layered defense, then take a landing zone and build up a beachhead. After that you take the main base, facility after facility.

For those, who´ve been waiting for a long time for this feature, like me, this will be great fun!

With a 50 percent shot I'm glad I'm not boarding. Glad you guys seem to be looking into it deeper though.

I'd really like to test one day again but at this point I'm booked. Have two other projects with developers that have been really good to their community. I'd like to give a little back to them by helping them succeed.  Maybe when I'm done though!

Hello guys,

working on a new scenario which will put you as sub commander (several nukes) vs. a Soviet carrier group. You have to find, prosecute and sink a big one.

Classical Cold War environment; I´m addicted to this time era like many here.

Database is ANW DB V 2.2 (and yes...it works fine, and HUD 3 works fine, too), which you find at Harpgamer. Game Engine 3.9.4.

Few weeks ago I was in kind of a retro mood and wrote this small beginner´s scen.
