TF refueling

Post by Chris21wen »

In this instance it's TF4 that is the problem, currently two days out of Diego Garcia but dreate any TK TF say form the US to Brisbane and the same happens. If you run the 2 turns the TF will be past the waypoint and not refuel.

I think TF 182 will also do the same thing.

The problem is with DIego Garcia. It is a level 2 port and is therefore too small to refuel TFs unless docked. And the docks there are almost completely full with other TFs. Not that it matters, as TF 4 itself is too large to dock.

You could accomplish fueling by disbanding loaded tankers into the port. Or, of course, by building up the port to level 4.

You should also be able to park a replenishment TF that contains an old Oiler in Diego Garcia (perhaps one of the short-legged Dutch AOs if available) to serve as a gas station. The replenishment TF can dock to draw fuel from Diego Garcia and you wouldn't need to disband large convoys.

Few things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example. -- Pudd'nhead Wilson

NOTE: one or two small items are not working as desired in AUTOMATED TF refueling for TFs that can not dock. Will be tweaked in the next patch.

Not a problem. AE has implemented a lot of port size restrictions and they take some getting used to. I do think there is a rough edge in this circumstance and a possible tweak is being discussed.

Ok what am i doing wrong. I sent a TF from SF to Brisbane with instruction to refuel tactically. It has reached Brisbane, unloaded and turned round without refuelling. As you can see from the pic Brisbane has sufficient fuel and the TF is docked. The next turn I checked it and it has left port without refuelling.

Save attached. I'm surprised that no one else has meantion this as I've currently got three TF with the same problem all-be-it at different ports.

I was able to refuel this TF without incident - using updated code for Patch 2. There have been a couple of fixes with TF Replenish but I do not know it any are directly involved here.

Is the issue related to refueling using "Refuel From Port" or automatic refueling when the CS Convoy turned around? If the latter, I'll need a save just before it reached Noumea to dig any deeper.

Manual refuel is no problem. On reflection it does appear to only affect CS turn around. The TF you looked at in Noumea and TF 194 in Brisbane both suffer from the same problem.

Currently I don't have a save prior to reaching port but I will shortly as TF103 sent from Abadan to Perth will have the same problem. When I'll send it when I can.

I rarely use CS and I suspect your problem comes from the TF being in that mode. None of my ASW patrols with a setting of tactical refuel have ever had a problem, refueling automatically when in port on that portion of their patrol leg.
