Influencing retreat

Post by Mistmatz »

Is there any chance of influencing were units that are about to be smashed retreat to?

The classic would be the defenders of Clark who could go for Bataan or Manila. I'm currently herding supllies in one of them and hope that might be considered by the engine as better retreat option. Another option I could think of is starting to move into the hex you want them to retreat, but does this really help? And is there anything else I can do?

Even if you don't know the answer I'd be interested in your experiences. Thx.
If you gained knowledge through the forum, why not putting it into the AE wiki?

My experience is that they will go to the hex that is least useful for me. [:(]

I have tried to start units I felt were about to lose moving in a certain direction, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Units seem to retreat in a direction that is away from the enemy, and secondarily an easier path.

Heck , half the time my troops won't go anywhere I tell them, with or without the enemy in pursuit! Till I rest them, supply them, tuck them in and read them a bedtime story! [:D] Even when I tell them to leave a nasty place and go somewhere nice . Firing the CO doesn't do much. I really whish I could shoot the CO and decimate the unit! Old school motivation! [:D]
