Game crashes during combat replay - HELP

Post by Miller »

Hi, I'm playing vs Canoerebel and we have just had a critical turn play out......the date is April 42, first big CV clash of the war. However, the combat replay crashes just before the end of the 2nd day (we are playing 2 day turns).

I have tried various things to get it to run all the way.......closed all background programs, not pressed esc during the replay.....I even got Dan to alter a couple of orders in the turn and resend it...no luck it still crashes!!

Dan has suggested we back up a turn or two and replay, but it would be denying him an important victory. Is there any way we can get this turn to run all the way? Would any of the tech team like to view it and see if they can get to the problem?

Tearing my hair out is an understatement[:@]

I think the carrier battle was more even than Miller realizes, but can you imagine his pain? He's tried various things and re-run the combat replay about eight times now trying to get it work. It's never fun watching an ugly carrier battle play out, but having to watch it mutliple times? Ouch!

Have you tried saving the file to a different slot and trying that?

1. Are you both on the latest patch '1084e'? That addresses some random game corruption.
2. Try deleting the old files before running the turn to create the Combat Replay.

Attach the save here and I'll have a look when I get a chance.

Hi michaelm, I will send you a copy of the turn and my password. I believe we are both running the first full patch. Thanks for your help!

It appears that the combat replay file is playing through on my computer (I'm Miller's opponent) and I'm getting a full combat.txt report. So the problem seems to be on Miller's end of things. He's off for work today and won't get word of this until 8 or 10 hours form now, so he won't be able to consider his crashing problem from the perspective that I don't seem to be experiencing any crash.

I'm having a very similar issue to Miller.

it's a two player Japan v one Allied. Version 1084e. 2 day turns.

On the second day, the file CTDs early in the turn when an Allied sub torpedoes one of our APDs. Luckily my partner was able to generate the turn. but the replay crashes at the same point for the Allied player.
