Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Terminus

Leo, it's the Eagle Day full campaign, 79-turn scenario 1940. It's nice to get reacquainted with this old friend, even though my dastardly opponent fails to recognize my obvious superiority.[:'(]

Kristian, is it possible to bomb as Luftwaffe:

- RollsRoyce Merlin factory
- Spitfire factory
- Hurricane Factory

If yes can you do it accurately using KG100 "pathfinders" at night?

Does it have any effect on enmy (i.e. Bristish player)?

Leo "Apollo11"

You can bomb all sorts of factories, but not accurately at night. This is historically accurate.

Yes, with the X-Gerät. They still couldn't do pinpoint night attacks.

Hi all,

Yes, with the X-Gerät. They still couldn't do pinpoint night attacks.

They did bomb it... very accurately... few bombs hit factory with almost unprecedented precision... but Germans failed to utilize fire bombs for KG100 and use them as "pathfinders" to mark precise location for all other bombers to mass saturate the target area...

Thus I was wondering if the game engine allows player to be better than history (with proper utilization of force)!

Exactly. The operative phrase here being "few bombs", i.e. not enough to drastically influence production. This just further emphasizes the fact that the Luftwaffe was designed to support the German army, and not to operate by itself.

KGr 100 did operate later as pathfinders, for instance in the attack on Coventry in November of 1940. BTW, if you haven't already, look up "The Battle of the Beams"; very interesting little side story about early electronic warfare.

But, to answer your question, the German player can not accurately bomb a pinpoint target like a factory at night.

Less. It's huge, but the number of things you need to control is significantly smaller than AE.

hmm, that sounds good :)
Is production controllable or fixed (but bombable)?

No idea. I always play the attacker in these games (Luftwaffe in ED and RAF/USAAF in BtR) so I only have to worry about bombing the other guy's factories, not what comes out of mine.

There's less to deal with, but the things you do deal with are more in depth. If you send your B-17s to the Ruhr and just tell the Thunderbolts to escort them, then there will be no escort on the way home. Escort missions need to be timed properly to work well.

Working from home today as I have a sick dog to take to the vet. So nice to live in a wooded neighborhood this time of year. Fall colors are looking awesome. I will be cursing the trees in a few weeks. [:D]
