Not sure if this has been posted here before, but this site has some really cool information about BB63.

I especially enjoyed the blueprints (yes, I'm a geek). I had no idea that the engine/boiler rooms took up so much real estate!

wow cool page user, I really always wondered how a battleship was layed out, amazed who designs this kinda stuff.

The blueprints are very informative, indeed. But equally interesting are the accounts of former crews' members. There is one rendering of a midshipman's cruise in 1948. The author, a man obviously wise beyond his years, concludes that "This trip had convinced me that the Navy was a strictly second line outfit in the sense that from now on the Air Forces would make that arm obsolete except for submarine and anti-submarine operations. While this development may not take place in the next few years, it certainly will come to pass in ten or fifteen years."

Well, as much as the USAF would like that outcome, it hasn't happened yet.
