Undocumented PDU limit

Post by erstad »

There seems to be a limitation on PDU which is not in the manual.

I can post screenies and saves, but I'm guessing it might be WAD so I'm asking first.

I have my first IJN A6M3 unit, and with PDU on I don't have the option to upgrade to Claudes or A6M2, even though I have other IJN units that are flying those models. In fact, the upgrade choices are pretty limited.

I think what's going on is it's not letting me upgrade a unit with non-carrier capable airframes to a carrier-capable airframe.

Bug or WAD?

Just a point of clarification.

In "classic" WITP, you needed to have both a land based and carrier based unit to be able to have the full range of upgrade options.  In other words, if the IJN had Claudes only in land based units but none of its carrier units were equipped with Claudes then whilst it could retro fit back to Claudes other land based units, it could not retro fit carrier units.

Is this the situation you face?

Ive encountered this aswell, and simply thought it was a matter of Carrier Capable/Trained squadrons unable to use non-Carrier Capable planes, with the reverse being true too.

As the A6M3 is not Carrier Capable, A6M2 units cant change to it, and likewise A6M3 units cant change to A6M2 or A6M3a.

I assumed this was a game engine limitation with regards to tracking a squadrons carrier capable status.

Suspect so.

Do you get a menu/selection of aircraft when you click on the "Do not upgrade" highlighted text?

Which air group was this?

Yes to the menu, just a very short list.

On a different computer, so I'll have to look up the unit tomorrow. It's the first A6M3 reinforcement.
