Optional rules:

12.2.5 PROPORTIONAL NAVAL LOSSES: When a stack of fleets of mixed nationalities
(including minor country nationalities) participates in a combat, the losses it
takes should be as nearly proportional to the starting proportions as possible.
Round ".5" and above up. When proportions do not "round out" precisely, an "odd"
loss or losses should be assigned by mutual agreement or, if agreement cannot be
reached, by competitive die rolls. For example, a stack of fleets totalling 68
ships contains 36 British (52.9 %), 20 Swedish (29.4 %) and 12 Portuguese
(17.7%) ships and loses 10 ships in a naval combat. The losses should be 5.29
(5) British, 2.94 (3) Swedish and 1.77 (2) Portuguese ships.


12.3.6 PROPORTIONAL LAND LOSSES: When army factors of mixed nationality (including minor country nationalities) participate in a combat, the losses suffered should be as nearly proportional to the starting proportions as possible. Round ".5" and above up. When proportions do not "round out" precisely, an "odd" loss or losses should be assigned by mutual agreement or, if agreement cannot be reached, by competitive die rolls. Once the number of army factors lost by each contingent are determined the controlling players decide the types of factors to be lost by each contingent (within the normal limits for militia, cavalry, guard, etc. factors that must be lost by the whole army) by mutual agreement or, if impossible, by competitive die rolls.

I have adapted the above optional rules,to try too implement an advanced CRT.

Table of losses that is used at present below.

Die roll random number = 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7

% Losses = 5%,10%,15%,20%,25%

The new losses table still works on the 1 die roll that is used for Naval combat.

Plus the new losses table takes into account, the three main things that can effect ships during combat, these are listed below.

1 = A ship can be damaged! ( a DAMAGED ship is deducted from the fleet,and it is placed in the REINFORCEMENT POOL with a cost of 2 money & 3 months to repair for a Light and 3 money & 4 months for a Heavy)

2 = A ship can be captured! ( a CAPTURED ship is deducted from the fleet,and it is placed into the ENEMYS REINFORCEMENT POOL with a cost of 3 money & 4 months to repair for a Light & 4 money & 5 months for a Heavy)

3 = A ship can be sunk! ( Self explanatary ship is SUNK complete loss removed from the game, a new ship will need building to replace the loss)

THE NEW COMBAT % LOSS TABLE

Old 5% loss result = 5% of fleet is DAMAGED deduct 5% from total number of ships.


Old 10% Loss result = 2% of fleet is CAPTURED & 8% of fleet is DAMAGED deduct 10% from total number of ships.


Old 15% Loss result = 1% of fleet is SUNK & 4% of fleet is CAPTURED & 10% of fleet is DAMAGED deduct 15%from total number of ships.


Old 20% Loss result = 2% of fleet is SUNK & 6% of fleet is CAPTURED & 12% of fleet is DAMAGED deduct 20% from total number of ships.


Old 25% Loss result = 3% of fleet is SUNK & 8% of fleet is CAPTURED & 14% of fleet is DAMAGED deduct 25% from total number of ships.


The above is just an idea at this stage,but I do feel it could be made to work within EMPIRE IN ARMS.[;)]
