It seems to me that immolating the Italians would cause any ally to change sides.
However the Italians do a fine job of containment.

It seems to me that in the first version of the game, 'some' Italian units would not
simply surrender. But as it is...I see 46 units surrender every time.

But in this version, you´ll get 9 Italian units some time after the surrender - early ´44 I think.

it is based on morale

they pass a check, they get to stay and die, the miss the morale check, they get to give up

How slim is the chance? I've done a lot of production test runs set up in hotseat mode, and even when the majority of Italian units have 99 morale, all of 'em disband, every time.   Possible if there is supposed to be a check, it is not actually occurring?

I had assumed this was an intentional change from the old method. I know in the original there was always at least a  handful that decided to stick around. (and they were always the ones flying MC200's and G.50s... [:D]

My test results match The Baron's - no matter what the morale level (practically all 99 with a few 88) is, all the Italian units disband.  After running the test about 10 times with the same results, my opinion either the routine is broken or no units are intended to switch sides.
