greyed out 'withdraw' on overdue AC?

Post by jackyo123 »

i went into my aircraft withdrawal shedule, and found 17 or 18 groups overdue. most were in us bomber command or us fighter command, in california.

but when i went to withdraw these units (I assume you are supposed to?), most had the 'withdraw' greyed out.

whats the significance of that? Not all did, but some did - and the HQ's didnt seem to matter to which.

You have to disband them. Poof, off they go to Europe. You lose the pilots and airframes. Sucks to be the PTO.[:)]

The required Withdraw groups need to be either withdrawn or disbanded. Subtle difference in meaning but end result the same.

Can I ask a question - if the squadron that has to be withdrawn/disbanded has already been lost in combat, destroyed on the ground or become an operational loss, I presume you don't loose any PP's for not withdrawing/disbanding it?  Also will it come back (as lost squadrons tend to do so) several months down the track or is it permanently lost if lost beforehand?

No daily PP lost if unit is destroyed or sunk before withdrawal date (ships and ac). Second, I am not sure, but my bet is that when it's gone, it's gone, unless it has return date (for example "Will reform as VF-44 19 Sept 1944").
