My middle school geography teacher taught us a learning pnemonic that I've never forgotten to keep the capitals of N. and S. Dakota straight:

Bismarck floating on Perrier.

Bismark is the capital of N. Dakota.

Everyone is forgetting the U.S.S. Good Ship Lollipop!

I'm partial to names of old U.S. frigates....Constellation, Constitution, President, Cheasapeke, Congress.

You were right the first time: it's Bismarck.

I read a book about an M1A1 tank crew in the first Gulf War. They saw a lot of action at 73 Easting and other locations. I've always thought about the name they affectionately gave their tank as one befitting a larger fighting vessel, but I'm somewhat ashamed to put it into this game.

After all, USS Coke Whore doesn't sound particularly glamorous or inspiring...

I think, if we're going with the cocaine message, herr Wittmann30, that we'd better discuss another iteration of 'USS Coca Caine'. That would be the most recent member of this class of ships, the 'USS Bar O Bam", don't you think?

Let's try to avoid thinly veiled ad hominem political attacks of other country's political leaders off of this thread, shall we?

I like San Juan Hill, I like to think FDR would have pushed that because that battle made Uncle Teddy (or cousin Teddy, whatever).

Both uncle and cousin, kind of. FDR and Teddy were fairly distant cousins, but Teddy was Eleanor Roosevelt's uncle. (Eleanor didn't even have to change her name when she married Franklin.) But despite the family relations, FDR and Teddy were not friends.

You could try ships of the Revolutionary Navy or Union ships of the Civil War. I second the mention of examples from the lake battles of the War of 1812. Valcour Island is tainted by the involvement of Benedict Arnold.

Then there is the Shangri La line of whimsy.

USS St. Louis firing on Guam, July 1944. The Cardinals and Browns faced each other in the World Series that year

And we could show some love to the Mexican War battles :

USS Veracruz
USS Tabasco ( I really like that one )
USS Buena Vista
USS Mexico City

Of course we might not have wanted to piss off Mexico at this particular time [:)]

Check pages 321 and 322 of the manual and you will find a lot of individuals which merit that their names be given to CVs![/align]
