Trouble playing SPWAW 7

Post by borgenb »

I'm using a Duron 1.13 GHZ with on board 8mb video, and on board sound. I'm also pushing 128 mb of SDRAM. With Win 2K Pro.

When I start the game, and push play SPWAW it goes to the entree screens. If I hit enter or escape it kicks me back to the 1st selection screen, in the adjusted lower resolution.

If I wait untill all of the initial screens complete I see the flash of a new screen then it defaults to the above.

Anyone with a little help??

Bypass the auto run screen by editing you SPWAW shortcut so it points to the C:\MatrixGames\Steel Panthers World at War\mech.exe file this will start the game directly bypassing the autorun menu. Also look in this directory C:\MatrixGames\Steel Panthers World at War\save and delete the following files if you have them steel.prf and holder.txt. What resolution are you running your video card/monitor at? SPWAW was designed to be run at 800x600 16 bit. Keep me informed.

Tried and Failed

I did just that and it goes to a blank screen for 2-5 sec, and then goes right back to my desktop.

I'm operating on 1024x768, but even when I went to 800x600 it did the same thing.

I'm thinking of downloading another copy, and trying again.

If you still have the initial install, try reinstalling it overitself, sometimes things don't always take the first time especially when registering files within Windows.

I redownloaded the whole game, unzipped it, reloaded it, edited it to go directly to mech.exe, and it does the same thing.

I'm at a loss.

Anymore help?
